Scared of being violent (12)

1 Name: Slarki : 2016-03-01 19:00 ID:7heeFv/Q [Del]

Hi. I'll get straight to the point. I have the feeling that I could be very violent and hurt people badly if given a reason.
If I would see someone in the streets threating or hurting someone else, I can't imagine not going at them with everything I got and I also suspect that I would not be able to stay within the limits of just helping. Especially when it comes to crimes like rape or abuse. It seems that I just have been lucky not facing anything noteworthy yet. Having two swords at home and two knives in my bag surely doesn't help.

How would you go about preventing yourself from basically ruining your own life by getting punished for such an overreaction?
The problem with that would not be my punishment, but rather the pain it would inflict on my parents. I am their only son and even after moving out they are very important to me.

Think of what that would feel like for your parents, what it would do to your future, and the possibility that you may kill someone in the process. If these thoughts don't stop you, I don't know what will. This is my honest advice. If you find you have anger management issues, then a therapist might help.

P.S. I carry a pocketknife in my purse too... just to be on the safe side + I'm a woman. Oftentimes it's going to be enough to scare people away without having to hurt them. But hey, if you feel like carrying that stuff around makes you more prone to using it, then leave it at home.

Thanks for the reply Rora-chan.
I don't really think that I got any anger management problems. I've never even hurt anybody/have never gotten into a fight since I'm somehow very good at avoiding dagerous situations. That is kinda why it's hard to judge just how I would react.
And I don't actually have the knives for self defense, but rather because I love blades and having one for like cutting a seatbelt in case of emergency.

No worries. And you're not the only one with thoughts of wanting to hurt a bad person ya know. I get very angry when I hear about horrible things someone has done. There's definitely freaky images going on in my head of what I'd do or would like to do to them lol.
I've no idea how I would react in a situation either, since I've never been in one. Oftentimes it's the people like us who are afraid of hurting others that don't do the hurting :)

Heh, your love for blades is like my love for rifles hehe.

Well, I live in Germany, so no rifles for me. Still very interested in guns, just can't have/see any.

Eh, I shoot at a shooting range (not so much these days, I'm too busy unfortunately). Not like I can just carry one anywhere though, I live in Canada haha. And you mean you're not even allowed to shoot guns at a shooting range in Germany??

You can, but very strict regulations. There are very few ranges and you have to get licenses and leave the guns locked up at the range etc. I'd guess that about 95% of people here never ever touch a gun. Unless you work as a ranger/police officer or similar.
Honestly, I prefer it that way. The thought of everyone having access to guns would scare me to death considering how many unreasonably people are out there.

I don't think guns are the problem, it's the people that have access to them. (Lol, this is turning into a right-to-carry sort of discussion, not that I mind haha). Idk, I guess for me it's like, someone could kill you whether they have a gun or not, crazy people will find a way.
I have no clue why there are so many shootings in the States recently, but look at Switzerland, nearly every citizen carries a gun of sorts, and for that they have the lowest gun crime rate in the world I believe.

This kinda went off-topic real bad.
I just don't trust people with 'em and we certainly don't need them. Everything seems to work out here like it is and if someone wants to stab me in the gut, well, so be it. Introducing them now would just create chaos.

Each with our own opinion :) In an ideal world, we certainly wouldn't need guns for protection (except maybe for hunting), I can agree with that.
Cheers mate! :)

.Violence is not cool, Fighting should only be done in self-defense and bully sucks.but dont get violent for no reason one really smart guy said this: if u can avoid fight you already won the fight. Avoid fight at all cost.if some1 trying to hurt you you should defend your self not with knifes ofc. with fist push him and run ...

>>11 Sun Tzu said that well.

I got a recent practical example of this; a night security guard friend of mine noticed a prostitute getting mistreated by some guys in an alley while on patrol. He was armed, so he could have gotten off his car to go threaten them with his gun; instead he just drove as close as he could and suddenly started honking and flashing his lights. They got scared and ran away.

He's had several of these situations in his career, i live in EU so guns aren't really common and he managed to always ge through robberies and aggressions without ever having to pull his gun out once. I'm trying to learn from him since i tend to have your same problem of overreacting (i'm a blade collector as well)

In US it's a very different matter though.
