Well, like the title says, I'm very confused. I've made a friend online about two years ago. We seemed close, best friends almost. Been through a lot together. Recently, they told me it was all just a joke. I guess you can say I was hurt, as our relationship seemed really close. But when I thought about it, even though they said rather harsh things, I thought about what happened throughout the two years. A lot went on, even if it was all set up. But what kept popping in my head was why did they go through so much effort to mess with me? To go as far as have someone they knew meet me irl? To have that person give me gifts? Maybe it's just me being hopeful and naive, but it's been bugging me. A lot of other people I've asked said that they wouldn't go through that effort, so why?

Peculiar, maybe they told you that to not involve you in a problem?

I did think about that... They surely helped me a lot throughout the two years. So to hear the sudden statement of this all being a joke, it was really shocking.

Well, there ARE a lot of people with a load of free time. But even if it was a joke, you had a good time throughout these 2 years, right? So it's alright, even if you did hurt in the end.

Yea, I'm aware of people who may have lots of time one hand. But you are right, I did enjoy those two years. It more of my wishful thinking.

They used you, and they needed you in a way. They wouldn't admit that of course, but they'd be lying to themselves.

I'm sorry but your better of not dealing with someone so unstable anyway.
