My friend's strict parents (13)

1 Name: Lancente : 2016-02-09 04:30 ID:h+9wISh4 [Del]

A friend of mine has really strict parents, who always tell her to study. But it doesn't end there, they almost lock her up at home with and limit her to her textbooks. They don't trust her at all and never give her any breaks. She doesn't have freedom to watch TV and doesn't even have a nice phone for enjoyment. They also expect her to(selfishly) enter into the top Uni in the country.

They hardly trust her and she has to stay home alone during work hours in study holidays and study the whole day. She tried explaining many times to her parents but they always scold her and tell her to study. Her mom doesn't allow her out of the house because she thinks that it will distract her.

She finds this torturous and sometimes tells me that she feels lonely and she wants to kill herself. I'm her only friend and I'm not close to her parents. I told her to change her behaviour in many ways and suggested her many things but her parents take it negatively, never understanding her and call her a cruel daughter.

At this point, I think it's too late, but can she somehow make her parents understand?

Haha, haha. How fucking bored is she from studying that she'll kill herself?

Well anyway, THIS IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM. STAY THE FUCK OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S SHIT

It's a big deal in my country. Lots of students kill themselves due to such pressure. And now, it has totally become my business. She keeps asking for my help and I do want to help.

I do know where you're coming from but you YOURSELF cannot do anything.

The only thing to convince her parents is a CEO of a high corporation or the principal of a prestigious school/uni. These people are the only one who can talk sense to parents like that. I luckily had a principal who helped me out with my mum.

The thing is, her mom is the principal of her school. It's surprising.

Interesting... Have to tried talking to school officials other than the principal (her mom) teachers, school counselors, and such? If not, try escalating it to the school board. Also... Country/state? I want to get a better idea of the school system before i start posting truly drastic measures.

I honestly don't have any suggestions on how to deal with that... but i do know to an extent how it feels to be powerless over a friend's emotions--especially one who is willing to kill themselves. Other than the other possible ideas listed above, for you specifically I think you should at LEAST always be there for her. Show her your support, your love and care for her. Find something/be the something for her to keep fighting and get through it. I hope all turns out ok.

>>5 She's fucked, but at least she has a promising future if she can live through this wad of shit.

>>6 And that....is waaay too much trouble for dealing with a single student with stress problems

I think it'd probably be best to go to a school authority (a councillor maybe?) so she can talk to them about it. I don't know your friend so I can't say anything definitively about the circumstances, but from the way you paint it, the parents seem to have some sort of personal issue. I find it in a lot of people i know at school, their parents are trying to live through them and in the process they place a lot of strain on the relationship they have with their kids. But yeah, talk to people at school, cause that seems like her only window of opportunity. Anyone who has her best interest and health at heart will be able to see the adverse effects on her. I wish you both all the best xx

I know how she feels cause that's what happens to me. Though my parents arent as strict as hers, I still have to study most of the time. If she does think of killing herself, just tell her "the world isn't as bad as you think".

>>8 she has threated to commit suicide, so i wouldn't take this too lightly either. The only problem is that her parent is in charge of her school.

I was in a similar situation until college, and I made it out ok. It just takes patience and a bit of hope.

Call the cops LOCKING her in her room forcing her to study
The cops can talk her out of suicide and make her feel better or give her parents a second thought about being jerks
And if she has a computer/phone that is good introduce her to the dollars it's a great way to get people out of depression because here at least someone cares
