Teacher: Strict, or just rude? (11)

Hey, I'm sorry if it's a bit forward for a new member to be asking for advice, but I really could use it. You see, I'm a freshman in high school, and I have this one teacher that really gets on my nerves. She can be a little confrontational towards me, and it has begun to affect my grades. She constantly singles me out in class and centers on my failures. I know that in high school I should have built up a resistance to this, but I've been putting up with it since the beginning of this year. I used to be really passionate about this class (H Literature, by the way), but now I find that I can't even concentrate on the work because of this teacher. How should I face this issue? Do you guys think that my teacher is at fault, or am I just driving myself crazy?

Maybe try and talk with the teacher about, I'm sure she will understand it ^-^

I'm not too sure. She doesn't even like talking to me about assignments; whenever I speak to her, she takes on this squirrely and agitated demeanor. She fidgets like she's annoyed with me, and it discourages me from speaking with her. Before you ask, this only happens to me and the select others on her shitlist.

Hey I have been in similar situations one class of mine was pre calculus and my teacher would call us stupid and always get annoyed when people came up to ask her "stupid questions" I really wanted to do well in the class but I found it hard to concentrate like you but I decided I wasn't going to let this teacher bully me. So every class whenever I didn't understand I would go up and ask her whatever questions I needed regardless of her attitude. I managed to get a decent grade to so my best advice to you would be to recognize that your grades come first. Even if this teacher is being cruel to you you should always have your "eye on the prize" don't allow a teacher or anyone to hurt your chances to succeed because at the end if the day you are the one who has to deal with the results. I am currently in college as a junior and this happened to be a few years ago but that lesson helps bc people will always have people they don't like or who don't like them it's just part of life and I think letting it go and focusing on what's important is the best thing you can do. I hope this helps I know how hard it is to go to class and dread it but remember your education is important and that teachers opinion will not matter to you later in life. Good luck!

Alright, at the very least, I can hold her off until the end of the year. I'll try not to let her ruin my grades. Thank you for the advice!

The exact same thing happened to me when I was in primary. My homeroom teacher would always single me out for the simplest of faults even though there were basically devils in the class she could say that to instead.

After I got into highschool I found out that teacher was actually bullying and picked me out solely because of my race at that time (wait till she sees how many of 'me' are there now).

You're not crazy Ryukagoka, your teacher is. Continuing with this can ruin your character but maybe it's different for someone in highschool. But otherwise it can lead to you becoming paranoid in the future.

Go to the school counselor, see if they have any solutions

I'm a highschool sophomore. Just by reading the title, i can kinda guess what this is about. (Just too lazy to read it tbh xD) I'm just saying this here and now. You will encounter alot of bitch teachers in your life. I wish you luck, child.

I know the feeling of being talked down to by a teacher. I loved drawing anime/manga, so I enrolled in an art class. My teacher kept giving me crap about my art and it seemed like she didn't exactly like anime/manga (she didn't say it directly, but I knew). When I drew a self-portrait of myself in manga form, she said she liked everything about it except the face. I believe it was because she didn't like manga. When I drew a still life of my watch I use to wear, she accepted it with open arms. This goes to show how a hypocrite she was.

I would follow >>4's advice. If you teacher thinks you are making mistakes, then you should constantly ask her questions on assignments that she gives you. She IS a "teacher" after all.

Thank you! I got a lot of surprisingly useful advice on this thread.

I would talk with a counselor and get switched out of her room but i don't thats an option anymore for you considering how far you are in the school year. Yea i would just put up with it and keep low in class.
