I didn't know where ask this but I guess this counts as a personal problem (kinda) I've never used a forum before, what does bump mean and what are some things I should generally know

Here are the basics as far as this site goes:

Basically, you post threads in whichever board makes the most sense for them to be in, and others will reply if they're interested. Some boards are more quiet than others; "Sports" is rarely visited, but "Random" is active daily. Also, every thread locks when it reaches 1336 replies, which is why you see multiple threads labeled "part 10" or "version 2", etc. around sometimes -- they're continuing existing discussions. You can find the previous versions by clicking the "View All Threads" button to your right.

Some things are better suited for chatrooms or replies than their own thread. If it's something that can be quickly Googled or doesn't really promote any contribution from other members, try to find an existing thread that it can fit in, or ask about it in the RTT (which is basically where those of us who don't like the chatrooms talk):
