Dating Advice (3)

I'm gonna exit high school soon and was wondering about some advice on dating?

I didn't try to date in high school b/c I was focused on getting good grades and I was rejected many times by friends that I just wanted to give up on it completely since that don't talk to me anymore.

To me, I just feel what's the point of me having a my first partner if I know I'm gonna breakup with them? I know first relationships don't work out so why even try...

I just don't like knowing that we're both are going to get close and have our feelings hurt that we're not compatible. For some reason it feels like I'm playing with their emotions, because a relationship is a commitment and breaking it feels worse on both sides and hurts even more that I can EXPECT that to happen.

I know college is going to be different since I won't be stuck with the same people I've grown up with. It just feels really scary, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings for a breakup that I know won't turn out b/c of experience.

It's like "hi! I really like you and would like to date! To bad we're probably going to breakup since it's my first relationship, OH WELL!"

Hello there! I don't have that much experience in dating/relationships so take what you will from what I post.

While first relationships don't generally work out, there is always a chance that it could work out. You'll never know if you don't try it yourself. I do know people who are on their first relationship from high school and are still going strong after college. However, those types of relationships are, of course, kinda rare. With that being said, I don't think the possibility of relationships not working out should discourage you from dating anyone. Just because when a relationship fails doesn't mean it was a waste of time and feelings. If anything, it's an opportunity for you to learn more about yourself and grow as a person. I've had failed relationships in the past but it's those mistakes that make me realize my own flaws and shortcomings.

Seeing that you're still in high school, I'll just say that college is a great time to try the dating game if you feel up for it (not that you should neglect your studies though!). You will meet all sorts of people. Who knows, you might even fall in love. It will happen when you least expect it. Anyway, like I said before, don't be discouraged! Being in a relationship is supposed to be a happy thing so if you ever find yourself in one, cherish those moments with your significant other.
