How to "Break Up" with a Group of Old Friends (4)

Hey guys, I recently transfered to a different school in my city. My group of friends from that school has made absolutely no attempts in contacting me (except 2 who are still my friends) and it has been absolutely wonderful at my new school. Recently I was suddenly invited by one of my old friends to a "Reunion" party, and honestly I would feel so awkward. I haven't talked to these girls for months, and the 2 friends who have kept in contact with me weren't invited. I'm thinking I should just be honest with the host and say I'm not interested in being friends anymore...But I don't want to be rude! Here's the text I was thinking of sending (personal bits were censored though XD): Hi ---, I'm really flattered you still consider me a friend enough to invite me to your party, but I'm not too sure. Ever since I've gone to (my new school), the only people who kept in contact with me were (friend 1) and (friend 2). I made a lot of wonderful new friends who talk and hang out with me all the time, and I wanted to continue being friends with you and the rest of the (my old school) squad too! But you never text me, they never text me, and and I keep noticing how much we've all changed. You're all great people but I don't think I see myself having fun with you anymore...I hate to say it and I'm not trying to be rude but I really believe it. We had fun times in junior high and early high school, but now I think we should go our separate ways." Any input on my problem would be much appreciated, thank you!

I feel you're over thinking it.

>>2 Yeah...? Do you think the text is good or should I just not say anything formally and just keep silent as I have been?

Just don't say much more that you need to. The only important thing to say is that you won't be going to the party.

That's me though. I suppose some people would appreciate the honesty. I just don't think it's a big enough deal to explain 100% of your reasoning.

They may just take no for an answer and not even care why.
