So...um...I'm stumped. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do once I go off to college. Right now I'm in high school and I'm scared about what I'm going to do on my own. I'm going to be the first one to leave my house so I don't know anyone that can give me advise. My whole family lives in town nobody has ever left to live on their own so I'm freaking out. Can somebody please give me advise.

Not going to lie, leaving town and living on your own is tough. Things will get frustrating and annoying as fuck, but its all manageable. Make sure to save money when you can, and don't let your accounts get too low, always have some saved in case of emergencies. Hardest thing about living alone is eating right ha-ha, first time I did it I was eating ramen..for every mean...for a month. Watch what you eat. It's not horrible, and once you get used to being on your own it gets to be enjoyable, especially if you have internet....so much good online when your alone and bored. If your smart and strong enough for college then you will be fine. Just try not to overwork yourself.

Hey Mikado :) I am in college and I live alone for three months now. Don't freak out, that's when things get bad. First I want you to analyze yourself because people are different. I have spent time being alone in the past so living alone now did freak me out a bit but I got over it. On the other hand, when my brother went to live alone he couldn't handle it, because he can't stand being alone. Either way, whether you think you can get used to it or not remember that 1) this is temporary, 2) you will make friends in college, so you are alone in a room, but you will have people around you, and 3) things take time, so relax.

Another thing is you should go out. Do things. This is your chance to try things, they will either get you friends or make you feel good about yourself. And those are two great things to have when you live alone. Also learn how to cook! its cheaper and better for your health. Don't buy things on your first couple of months if you don't REALLY need them, that's how you could mess up your finances, let your first month be the month you calculate how much you need for rent, bills, food, groceries and basic needs. Remember your first month is about planning the next couple of years of your life. If you do it right you might save some dimes to buy clothes at the end of the month, so that's something to look forward to.

Lastly, you said you are the first from your family to go out. I don't want to freak you out any more but the truth is, they look forward to see you do well, so don't disappoint them. When exams start for your younger cousins their parents will remind them that if they want to go off like you did, they have to study, so set a good example.

BTW, you will get along with class mates if its a small group but don't rely on it. First week is the best time to make friends and join societies because everyone there has no friends either, use that to your advantage.

I'll end this with my brothers advice to me, in his own words "at some point you will feel like its not worth it and come back, but don't make the same mistake I did. Don't give up" because he returned and regretted it.

If you need anything else, feel free to ask.
