Deciding to drop a class HELP!! (please respond quickly if can) (5)

I just recently came back from school and forgot the sheer PAIN newspaper class was.

The only reason I signed up for it was because I wanted to see what it's like working in a magazine-company-like environment since I'm thinking of becoming a freelance artist.

But first semester was a PAIN, it got me burned out and I had to go to consulars multiple times to either get some extra sleep or explain my stress and workload.

It wasn't a organization problem because my consular and teachers tried to help me plan out my assignments/projects and I got the hang of it. But it still didn't help with the stress of the work load.

I have to choose between study hall vs. newspaper, I'm just afraid if I choose study hall I'll be doing nothing in there if I get all my work done faster from first semester.

I feel I'm wimping out since what if I can't handle this environment in the real world? Will I not be able to handle a work load like a freelance artist would?

I also have to account for the ACT prep classes I have to take in March as well.

Please I need some advice!! I only got till tomorrow morning!!!

Plus I'm good in my newspaper class so my counselor was wondering if I should, I got a B+ in that class.

If you don't enjoy the class, and it isn't required, don't take it. You said you are afraid of being unable to handle the environment in the real world, but will you ever actually want to have a career in that area? If you don't think study hall will work for you either, decide which one you want more. Make a decision tonight, and if you don't feel good about it, change it in the morning before you have to make your final decision. Nobody can make the decision for you, and I know it can be tough to make those decisions, but think through it logically. If you won't use the study hall period for anything, and you are willing to give newspaper class another shot, choose the newspaper class. If you foresee a lot of difficulty in the future with act prep, take study hall to help with that. I know the ACT can be and is scary, so if you couldn't find anything else to do in study hall you could always study a little early. Hope this helps!

I was in the exact same situation a few years ago, and I choose study hall and it was great. That is what I would recommend.
