My parents call me neurotic. What does that mean? I've tried researching it, but I couldn't find a definition that made sense with the situation. The only thing I'm fairly certain about is that it has a negative connotation.

Everyone has a slightly different definition of it, tbh. But in that sort of urban, at-home context, it usually implies you're acting stressed, obsessive, over-active, anxious, or paranoid, etc. For example, you might call a dog that hunts flies all day and won't eat its food unless its bowl is perfectly centered, neurotic. The idea would be that your parents are unable to comprehend how you behave.

Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to interpretation. In my experience, it's more of a neutral observation.
