Talking with my mom (3)

I've been in a rough patch with my mom lately, it seems I'm more trusting to my consular than my own mom.

It's not she's abusive or anything but it's just when I talk to her I freeze up and don't know what to say even though I rehearsed what I wanted to say in my head.

We got into a fight where I ask the consular to recommended me and my mom write in a journal to each other so we can be more open to talk for me. But she when ballistic in the morning when she read it she made me miss the bus.

We yelled and I mostly cried, and we finally started to gain some ground to understand each other.

She plans that for the few Saturdays she's free, we would have this "date" where we would do something and for me to write a list of things down to talk about for me to be prepared and also so my mom could research about before hand to know some of the stuff she doesn't know.

She's open if it's something that doesn't interest her, she would still like to know because it's interesting to me.

I'm having trouble coming up with a list, I got a few ideas down but you guys have any advice for ideas?

Just write down your passions. I can tell by the way you described this that she wants to build a stronger relationship with you. If you include a large enough variety of topics for her to look at, you are bound to find something to build common ground on. Once you have one thing to build on, you can grow from there. If you and your mom both want this relationship to work it will in the end. What are your passions? What do you already know interests you both? Does she enjoy talking with you about just life or school? What is her career (most people really enjoy talking about their careers? (if you have any interest at all in hers, put it on the list). What are your academic interests? Artistic preferences? Sports? If you find something you both enjoy making fun of, you can share a few laughs. Government standpoint? Hobbies?
These are just a few ideas of what you could put. Definatly pour yourself into this, relationships with your parents are incredibly important. Act now, and you can enjoy a healthy relationship for years to come.
