Stress Management (13)

1 Name: ryuhime : 2015-11-21 23:32 ID:dmw6hcLG [Del]

When I'm stressed out or frustrated I feel like letting off energy. I find spinning around helps, but I don't always have a big enough space to do that. In these situations I usually feel like punching (any sudden burst of motion really), but I don't have anything to punch so I end up slamming my fists into my torso and legs. I don't get bruises or anything, but it seems to make other people annoyed when I do that.
Does anyone know any ways to:
- effectively (and not self-harmfully) let off energy without much range of motion?
- manage stress in a way that doesn't require much motion (if any)?
- focus so that I can actually solve the problem instead of getting uselessly mad at myself?
Thanks for reading.

I would recommend taking up boxing, or a martial art, but that doesn't fall under the 'without much range of motion' part. If you were willing to compromise that part, it sounds like it would be a good outlet for you considering its already using the striking motions that you are already using in a more productive way.

Another way you could let off some steam is to literally let off some steam; breathe in and breath out, slowly and do it for like 30 secs. It should work, but don't overdo it, you will hyperventilate xD.

Breathing excersises are a good idea like Requiem said. What I usually do ( I also have bursts of energy) is to focus on a short-story to write later, or anything I can do that won't annoy people (Humming, walking around the room, fiddling on the phone and read)

Perhaps try writing, that always helps me, maybe you have a story in your mind that you would like to put on to paper? I write using Wattpad, give it a try sometime.

Try meditation, it sounds cliche but it can really help relax and actually help with future stresses

>>7 You are a role model. Thankyou for your input. We shall now name you the leader of dollars, starrz. When one hears the word 'dollars' on the streets, all will cower in fear of the great starrz, known to have had an impact on 1 million people. We dollars are indebted to you for your gracious advice. Now let us all cry in agony and cut ourselves.

>>8 not sure if this is sarcastic or not...
if it is: crying is actually the most effective calming technique i have ever come across.
if it's not: i'm sorry for having made an incorrect assumption.

Don't repress anger. Find a constructive outlet. It seems as though you are very comfortable with being physical about it, so I would suggest you try out sports or marrial arts. Have a good day.

>>8 a big chance his being sarcastic. But hey, who am I to judge peps?

Add this to your to do list (if ur at 'Depressed' level):
-Find something breakable to throw (I recommend glass).
-Throw em' where you would hurt nobody and yourself.
