ISIS (29)

Guys, everyone is going on about Paris and the bombing that just happened. Most people think that we should take a stand.

I don't think that we should.

The Dollars are colorless for a reason, this is something bigger than us, and where as I want to help Paris, I also think about the bigger picture. The were much more brutal attacks with higher death tolls than Paris had.

What do you think?

2 Name: Boric : 2015-11-18 10:49 ID:YcpwmC1X [Del]

I agree. It's also not what we stand for. What we can do however is help those in need and support our troops who are already doing what they can to put a stop to ISIS. There are organizations and charities that allow you to send care packages with items that our troops downrange with items that they may not have access to otherwise.

Exactly my point, we can help that way without making ourselves known.

4 Name: Neko : 2015-11-18 13:32 ID:2CJ/1XXi [Del]

Those who say they want to 'help' while being too fixated on the name 'dollars' only want to have fun. Ignore them.

5 Name: Roppi : 2015-11-18 13:36 ID:inTSeIEH [Del]

I agree with Neko. lol, how are they going to stand up for anyways?

6 Name: Boric : 2015-11-19 04:10 ID:rNYQlIjF [Del]

I help Outside the Dollars as well. As a deployed member of the military. What I was saying that under the Dollars name there are ways to help without getting directly involved.

Well, thank you for your service Boric, from me and everyone else

8 Name: RainCat : 2015-11-19 07:21 ID:4gSnNtuJ [Del]

But if people really do want to help, like with Anonymous, then they need to use a different name than 'Dollars'

9 Name: Neige !h45CN3bvL2 : 2015-11-19 07:56 ID:RfJRuI6L [Del]

Okay. Here's what's wrong with this thread.

First of all, there are maybe 100 active Dollars at any given time. This is hardly the Dollars from Durarara, it's little more than an internet message board. We're nothing like anonymous, who maybe - and that's a really big maybe - might be able to do something.

>>2 There are no American, or any foreign troops in
Syria. The people who are fighting ISIS are essentially rebels trained and backed by the U.S. I don't know if there are any proper channels for supporting them, but I doubt it. If you know anything more, maybe you can try, I dunno, actually explaining them instead of just saying they exist.

There really is nothing any of us can do. If you're really worried about this sit tight, watch the news and hope for the best.

>>9 At current, you are correct, there are no ground troops in Syria, but it has been authorized to start putting boots on the ground.

As for supporting our troops downrange, there are literally hundreds of organizations that you can join to do so, but I don't have to much information on them. Most recruitment offices should know more about the process than I do, so I would try your local recruitment office.

Current as of October 30th. As of right now they are 'non-combat special forces', but that can easily change.

>>12 Oh, that. I dunno, doesn't sound too promising to me.

But sure, if there are channels in place to support them somehow, cool.

Look, Neige, if you want to state what is wrong with my post then you can leave, Last time I checked my post, I had made no statement for negatives, only opinions on the topic. Nothing more or less. Thank you

Normal people like us have no way of standing up. All we can do is offer support to those affected

16 Name: RainCat : 2015-11-23 14:02 ID:4gSnNtuJ [Del]

I mean, it's bad enough that we have to argue with other members about ISIS and all that, but now there is confirmation that the Scarves are hunting us down

We can do something it doesnt have to be huge
It could be something as small as giving someone who looks like theyve had a bad day some flowers or a kleenex to someone who is crying
It might seem small to us but to someone else we just made their day

So shut up. We can do something so go out and do it

>>14 Dude, you asked for opinions and I gave you one. Don't be so defensive.

I've been on this site for a while, and I can tell you that the Dollars are not an "organisation" on par with Anonymous. I mean, our average age is probably around 14, and I've yet to see any of the supposed "missions" that members undertake actually amount to anything. Unless you feel like donating to some kind of service like what >>12 was on about, there is little any of us can do to affect anything.

And it really doesn't really help when there are guys like >>16 who are trying to equate ISIS with the yellow fucking scarves.

Still, I probably should've left out that first bit of my last post - it came off as condescending and I apologise for that.

it's not even an organisation, buddy. An organisation has organized divisions with clear leadership, specifications, and divisions. I don't see any of that here. Yep, just a community.

20 Name: Neige !h45CN3bvL2 : 2015-11-24 08:39 ID:RfJRuI6L [Del]

>>19 Well, to be fair, Anonymous doesn't really have any of that either, and I'm pretty sure the concept of the Dollars is supposed to be something similar.

But I know what you mean, and you're right. It's always a pain trying to point out to most members that the Dollars from the anime and the Dollars BBS aren't the same thing.

Being the naïve and deluded otaku I am, I say we all reveal our identities and fight ISIS head on and be saviours of the world!

I have seen this same thing said time and time again, but I'll say it anyway, if you want to help the fight against ISIS, go ahead, just don't do it under the DOLLARS name, if you want to help, donate money to the government so they can use it for anything they may need or join the fight directly ( I don't think it's a good idea though) just don't do it as a DOLLAR, do it as yourself.

DIE ISIS!!!!!!!!!!

25 Name: Rykero : 2015-11-25 00:42 ID:CLrVqYgF [Del]

I feel bad for all that have been affected, but also feel bad the most of the world is ignoring the other attacks, like in Lebanon...

Do you honestly think the dollars could do something? We can't do anything unless you also want to change your facebook photo to the french flag which hurts ISIS a lot.

28 Name: RainCat : 2015-11-30 07:17 ID:4gSnNtuJ [Del]

>>27 Just because you think thats the most that we as a group can do, than that is more of a pathetic thought than wanting to help but not become visible. I want to help, and I am helping, granted it's in a different way. but I am sorry that I didn't want to go through the trouble of changing a photo and copying everyone else.

We are a shell of what the dollars are in the anime.
Anonymous calls themselves "loosely connected" (rightfully so) and they're more organized than ourselves.

What I'm trying to say is that even if we wanted to take a stand we can't; we're too spread out across the world and too many of us merely use this to kill time and nothing more.

Another thing: There are no rules in the Dollars; if you wish to even try to act like how the true yet fictional Dollars, at least obey that rule.
