so i was on my phone the other day and i opened up this app i downloaded, it was the flashlight app and this ad popped up saying i won price chopper coupons and i tried to exit out of the ad but no matter how many times i tried to exit it just wouldnt let me. then heres where the strange stuff happened, it exited out and it was like a person was controlling my phone?? idk how to explain it but it was like somebody else controlling it, they were opening all my apps and putting them into random folders and then they opened my camera and started taking a bunch of pictures when they switched to front camera i tried covering it but im pretty sure they got a photo of my face and useless photos of my room, im really paranoid so i shut off my phone and covered the camera with duct tape was somebody trying to hack me?? should i be worried??

Yes, you should be concerned. I only know about this because my phone's security just warned me about this a few days ago. It sounds like you have a kind of virus called Stagefright, which allows an attacker to take over your phone and steal information. (Although, I'm sure there's a million other possible viruses that do the same thing, that's just the only one I know of.) I would go into one of your carrier's retail locations and see if there is a way they can reformat your phone (this would probably erase everything on your phone including contact info, photos, etc.), or look at getting a completely new phone.
I'm not a tech savvy person, and I don't know your phone or carrier or anything, but that's where I would start.
Needless to say, having a phone controlled by something or someone other than yourself is not something you want happening.

Oh my, a bit frightening indeed there. I'll give you several pieces of advice:

- Do not do any internet banking on your phone. Check through your laptop or pc if you have been hacked or not and see if anything is out of the ordinary, your balance, opened accounts, etc. If it has been hacked contact your bank IMMEDIATELY. Do not brush off any little strange thing that might have happened to your account.
- Do not access your email or try to log into it using your phone. Same thing open it on a laptop to see what's going on with it. If you can, change your password and make sure you remember your recovery questions, etc.
Do not access any social media sites or try to log into them through your phone. What ever you're using check the safety settings and if it has been hacked then disable it if you think it's serious.
- Maybe turn off "cloud" if you have that, I'm not sure how it works but I know it's related.
- You might have photos you want to save but if you know that you've been hacked then it's too late to save them on something else. You don't want your laptop or something else to get hacked.

And similar to >>3 contact your phone provider and see if there is anything you can do, from reformatting/ clearing everything and as a last resort getting a new phone. I don't think you'd need a new phone but just check with them.

Hope this helps.
