Is it okay to leave a child with out a ride to school (11)

1 Name: Sora : 2015-11-05 05:57 ID:to1vlU0Q [Del]

So hey my names Sora and my family only has one car. My dad (who I live with for now) goes to work super early in the morning like 3-4 am. This means that if he takes the car I'm stranded at our house because of the bus route and neighborhoods I would need to catch and or ride a bike through. Does anyone think this is okay I know it seems unavoidable but my step mom live here too. Sooo?

I'm not sure how old you are, how far you have to walk, or the areas you have to go through. But I hope you can be understanding and see that your dads hands seem pretty tied. Do the best you can between you, him, and your step parent to work something out. Carpooling with a neighbor or friend if possible is probably your best option. Or if you're very young. Maybe your step mom can go with you on public transit. Maybe not always but the first couple times couple help you get more comfortable.

I'm in high school and I always try to see their point of view although I'm one of two kids in high school in two blocks of my house who isn't at a private school the neighborhoods are mainly just filled with drug and gang activity and my school is a 15-20 minute drive from my home. I see your point and I may seem like I was trying to counter you but I only meant to give you the things I left out.

Sounds like bussing to school might be the best fit. Maybe keep pepper spray with you to feel safer. My girlfriend buses around a ton and I bought her pepper spray a couple years ago. I like that you responded with more information. It's constructive. I suggest you talk to others about this as well. I just hope some of what I said can help you work it out.

You're growing up. Deal with it yourself. Call the school and explain the situation, lie a little bit. Have a plan.
You will get your bus ride.

>>>6 Maybe saying "Deal With It Yourself" isn't the best advice. It's scary growing up for the first time ever and not knowing what to do.

Ya 15-20 minutes by car sounds like about 45 minutes or more on bike/walking. I'd recommend getting the school to plan a bus route to you, since they are usually required to provide transportation to students for free (yay!).
