Saying Things at the Wrong Time (4)

1 Name: Ace : 2015-10-31 15:42 ID:/bxyB74+ [Del]

Being the socially awkward person I am, I have an awful problem of saying things at the wrong time. I always open my mouth and end up saying things that end up unintentionally offending people.
Once at a mall during winter, there was a store advertising the "tights and sweatshirt" look. After seeing it, I turned to my friend and said "Why would anyone want to wear tights in minus 30 degree weather?! It's so stupid..." At the moment I finished, a little girl in a dress and tights had spawned in front of me. She just stared at me and in a panicked state I (practically) ran away. Things like that happen to me so ridiculously often and due to my lack of social experience and instant panicking, I never know how to handle or cover for it. The worst part is having to deal with the guilt of knowing what I did. The tights thing happened a year ago and I still feel awful about it.
The question is: What should I do? Am I the only one? And does anyone have any advice on how to stop it from happening or to quit feeling so bad? I'd appreciate any advice you guys can give me. Thanks and Happy Halloween!

It's not really an advice, but I do it all the time and just laugh it off :D And that's how you meet people that accept you as you are and can laugh with you.
I mean, the first time I was itroduced to one girl I was talking something about being short (I'm a goalkeeper) and then I noticed she was, like, a head shorter. Well, I even said it out loud. Shit happens~

>>2 he/she is exactly right. It's how you meet people. If you don't have an opinion, it becomes difficult to form friendships. And you won't draw in the people you want to draw in. Like and like.

I worked in an old age home for a while so I know that the problems you have in your life never really go away. There have been 80 year olds who were still afraid of talking to people. I agree with Quwerta, laugh it off, or hell, turn it into a joke. "Except you little girl, you're just special" *wink.
