What to do with myself after highschool (6)

Is it me or is anyone else wondering what to do with themselves after high school? I mean of course I’d love to go to college but I feel like I’d just be going with the flow spending 4 years of my life studying back to back, would be a boring time? Not to mention I don’t really want to end up in debt so early off in my life . I’m just starting off and maybe its because I watch to much anime and have such high expectations but I want to do something interesting with my life I ….. I just don’t know what.

To be honest, I'm not so sure about the whole college thing either... I mean, is the debt really worth a slightly more decent job in an ocean of debt I won't be able to pay off?

But as for everything else, I just want to be a comic/mangaka artist in a decent apartment, or small house with a pet or two. As for something interesting, that's a different story. What kind of "interesting" are me talking about here exactly? Illegal or legal interesting?

Honestly same... I mean i kinda want a career in art, but I'm not sure where that will take me... I just need a good paying job and a decent home for me and my boyfriend (that is if he stays with me long enough to live with me). Still the dept.. I've heard how long it takes just to finish paying it off, it sounds rough...
I have one of those families that will force me to go to college without knowing much about it anyway... i feel like I'm screwed to go in the end, but i guess it will take an interesting toll on my life in the future...

right now I'm a Junior (11th grade)
and yeah they are starting to prepare me for college which I'm kinda dreading... I'm not excited for it at all..

Here's an excerpt from college-education.procon.org

People who argue that college is worth it contend that college graduates have higher employment rates, bigger salaries, and more work benefits than high school graduates. They say college graduates also have better interpersonal skills, live longer, have healthier children, and have proven their ability to achieve a major milestone.

People who argue that college is not worth it contend that the debt from college loans is too high and delays graduates from saving for retirement, buying a house, or getting married. They say many successful people never graduated from college and that many jobs, especially trades jobs, do not require college degrees.

The last sentence on the pro list sounds like pure bullshit; however, it's up the reader to choose. I may schedule an appointment with my guidance counselor actually, she may have more insight. I don't see college in my future though.

After dropping out of college and searching what I wanted out of life I am going back. I want to design computer chips, GPU's specifically. To do that I need education and it helps that the type of jobs in the field pay good.

Also a college degree is not necessary to be successful. What is more important is what you want to do as a career. It all depends what kind of field you want to go in. In some cases a college degree would be more harm than good, since the field you might want to get in doesn't have a large market. Psychology for example doesn't have too big of a hiring field on its own, but with a Medical license it would. Or even paired with a teaching degree.

Also a community college is a great place to start, since it is cheaper. You can also get an associates or get most of the basic classes done too.

You can go to a technical school to be something like an electrician as well. Not all jobs require a college degree but can require a certification in that field.

>>1 Create. Bring something new into the world. I think only a job like that can satisfy you. It depends what you're into but I think unless you're bringing something new into the world you probably won't like many jobs.
