Art vs. Psychologics (3)

Hello fellow members

If you didn't realize, the new school year just started. And a big part of the Dollars still goes to school, and I as well.

That's why I opened this topic, because I have some trouble with school.

I'm fearing I might have chosen the wrong course. I have chosen art, and because of that I changed schools. But, something feels wrong. Maybe I just miss my old school or it's because everything is new, but I don't feel quite right there. I also can't help but think that I should've chosen psycology, because I have a deep interest in that as well.

So, I decided to come to here, considering I need to make my decision quick, cause if I don't, I might need to do over my year again, and I want to avoid that.

I have the same feeling too- I've chosen to go into health sciences, but I personally wish to go into the criminology world.
However, considering I will need to apply for a university soon, I'm continuing with health science. The reason is because I feel like, even tho it is a more complex topic, I have a better chance of finding a job and such. But the most important reason is, because I still have a lot to learn, there will be highly likely for myself to enjoy going into health sciences.
So basically, you should continue with art (considering you were serious enough to change schools for it). It's understandable that you like psychology, but the reason you wish to go into this is not only because you like it, but may be unconsciously hesitant with your decision of going into art. Don't be. Continue with your course, and you may really enjoy it so that you can finally decide what you would like to do in the future that involves art.
(Sorry, if I don't make much sense...it's 1 am and I need sleep :3)

Same feeling here, I started my last year of school with sciences because 'everyone else' wanted me to go into a 'prestigious' course. It's not like I dont have an interest in the subjects i have now, my career councillor actually told me it was a problem that i find everything interesting... I'm a jack of all trades but I've always had an artistic flare, i see everyone else doing art and now i regret it because, I know i really would enjoy studying architecture and you need an art folio.

This is a cliche' remark but, follow your heart. Maybe you're feeling uneasy because you're addressing your course selection as a 'duty' rather than a passion. If you follow the path of 'duty' without the skills for it you wont be helping anyone, it'll be quite the opposite instead.

But if you have time, try to settle into your new school first, take a good breathe, and see where you want to head for the future. Actually you know what? I'll give you the steps that I wish I took:

1. See what subject courses are available in your education curriculum (state curriculum i think).
2. Jot down subject courses that interest you.
3. See what university courses you're interested and jot them down.
4. See what the prerequisites are of that uni course (what school subject you'll need).
5. Now moderate between the school subject courses you like and the ones that you need for the uni course you like.
6. If you're school doesnt have all the subjects you want, you can always do some subjects through distance education (might need to research a bit on that in your country).

Remember to keep your options open, you might not get into your desired course but there are pathways, etc etc. And do this whole process in one day, that way your mind will start focusing and there'll be a flow.

Yeah..so these are the steps that I wish someone had the time to tell me. All I can do now is pass on this knowledge to the younger generations, its too late to re-do my own choices.

Remember you are very lucky if youve got time now. I wish you the best for this year.
