I'm going to be in my last year of high school next year and will be going to college soon. In May/June I will be taking the final exam before moving on to college and it is a really important exam that will decide whether or not I will be able to study abroad. Because of that, and also because I'm the eldest in the family I guess, my parents are expecting me to score excellent results for my final exam. Mediocre or just 'good' results are not an option. My teachers are also constantly telling me that they're expecting me to get A* on all my papers and that "since it's me it's possible". If I get lower that what they expect, they'll say "you could have done better". I get that it's essential for my future that I get excellent results and stuff but I feel rather pressured at times when they say that. I know I have to work harder to get the results they want and expect me to get since I have to admit I haven't been working hard enough. Sometimes I think that it's better that I study rather than wasting my time so I pick up my books and start but soon after start to lose interest. I know it's all for my sake but I'm tired of all the expectations they're pushing on to me. Whenever they tell me that if I don't get excellent results I won't be able to get into a good university, it makes me feel scared of what is going to happen in the future. It makes me feel scared that if I don't produce the excellent results they expect I might not be able to get a bright future. That I might disappoint my parents. I'm just so scared of what will happen in the future I just.. don't know anymore.

Don't worry about disappointing them. You can't please everyone. The only one you need to worry about is you. Are you happy with the path you're on? Are you happy with your grades? Are you doing what you truly want to do regardless of what others want you to do? It's your life, worry about you. I can understand if they just want the best for you but it seems like they are after perfection and no one is perfect. As for getting into a good university, I'm sure you will get in. However, from those that I've seen, bosses dont care as much as where you went to school as much as they care about whether or not you can do your job.

It is for your benefit. From my experience just study hard to keep options open. I mean I know what it's like with expectation, though after a while I came to understand that yeah, I can work harder not for their expectations. I suggest just trying to study well enough to know you are prepared. Even if you feel like you don't nees a high grade maybe to get into the course you want you can always make the decision later when you get in. If you want to do it later you might not be able to or it would be a lot harder (E.G getting into medicine in universitiy is much harder than from school). Thus you should try hard in school just to keep your options open. You never know what you might end up doing.
Yeah just some personal experience from people I know etc etc. You've probably heard it a lot but eh tbh studying in highschool might seem bad but really it isn't much haha.
