My mother has been in the hospital for a few weeks now due to complications with her surgery. I haven't been up to her her often. I know how she is doing due to my father going and seeing her everyday. I went on a group date to the movies a couple days ago. Afterwards I posted that fact on a social media website. My aunt then commented on how nice it was that i went on a date when my mother was in the hospital and I didn't care about her. I deleted her comment and called her and told her how childish I thought it was and she told me how a bad daughter I've been to my mother. (I have straight As, good friends, and have been doing all the chores around the house while shes been in the hospital.) (this aunt lives several states away and is a bit of a know-it-all) So guys, whats your opinion? Was I or my aunt in the wrong?

Your aunt is right...
You did a great job taking care of the house while she wasn't here but...you also need to go see her. Tell her you love her and bring her a gift. Something she likes. Try to make her happy. Your mother would be sad if you don't come. She will think "her friends are more important than me"
Try your best to make her happy

I understand what your saying, but I forgot to mention that she is asleep most of the time and when she is awake she is mostly incoherent.

Listen, if I'm gonna be honest, there's not much you can do to help your mom unless you have any doctor training. She's in the hospital for a reason, cause there they can help her. You should do your best to get on with your life as normally as possible, but you should see your mom as often as you can. You were in the right here. I would have done the same

I'm not gonna spout my unpopular opinnion on family, and instead say that even if she doesn't notice it since she's asleep, if someone later on tells her you were there, she's still gonna be relieved.
Also, why would you take your aunt's opinnion to heart if you know about her personality? Not saying she doesn't make any sense at all...
