I can't fit the tampon (24)

1 Name: Ana : 2015-07-17 08:46 ID:C6E9sTre [Del]

I have tried multiple times to put a tampon in, but it either ends up hurting or only going partially in. I am certain that I am doing it correctly. When I inserted it the last couple of times I put my leg on the toilet seat and put the applicator right on my private part. I then pushed it in. It didn't work. I've tried it beforehand multiple times, but I put the applicator further away from my opening. Even then, it produced the same results as it did now. I feel like it's impossible to insert it. Can anyone recommend any methods?

Some people just don't click with tampons (pun intended). Maybe you could try using a different brand or just switch to pads altogether?

>>2 nice pun.
So...no tampons? But they seemed so convenient...

try doing it at an angle..../ bending it up/down before it gets stuck

try a 45 degree angle that normally helps

>>7 I think he asks because this is kind of a bold questions. I'm glad I'm not the only one who ever had this problem, though.

Well... You can either create a life long friend by turning your best friend into your "tampon buddy" (meaning they actually helped you put it in), orrrr...

Hopefully someone here will tell you, because even that didn't work for me, and you basically just have to wait until after you've had sex and you're wide enough and your pain threshold is strong enough.

You know... Not once have I ever thought of Googeling this until now.

*Googles*

Okay, so guys, turn away, because you may not want to hear this. It appears that you and I have what is called a "septate hymen" which is basically an extra tissue layer that interferes with the insertion of tampons.

If you have a hymenal strand, it can make it difficult and painful to put in a tampon. But the strand is usually somewhat flexible and some girls manage to get a tampon past it on one side or the other. Then, there may be trouble getting it out. If this should happen to you, it may be best to see a medical professional rather than try to force the tampon out. Girls who have a strand and still force a tampon out tell us that they experienced a sharp pain and saw drops of bright red blood; they tore the strand.

According to the site I'm on, this isn't exactly bad, it's just frightening and can cause a girl's vaginal muscles tensing up involuntarily and essentially closing off the opening to the vagina whenever you try to use a tampon. The technical term for this is VAGINISMUS. When a girl is afraid that inserting something in her vagina will hurt, a signal goes to the muscles at the vaginal opening and makes those muscles contract. The girl doesn't know this is happening. She doesn't really feel anything. She only knows that she can't seem to get a tampon in.

(Unfortunately this bodily mechanism also created a rape myth that men can't rape women because if the women was truly unwilling, then the vagina wouldn't ever let the penis through; this is complete and utter horse shit so never let anyone confuse you about that.)

>>9 I never felt nervous, just irritated. My private part never bled, it just felt sore during the time I took it out and put it in.

>>10 So wait, have you managed to fully insert it yet?

12 Name: Ana : 2015-07-19 14:21 ID:C6E9sTre [Del]

>>11 nope. I stopped trying.

I had the same problem, I finally just switched to pads. They're not that bad if you switch them out often enough.

>>12 So you've already tried relaxing yourself before inserting it at a different angle?

And like >>13 said, they're not all that bad, but that does mean you won't be able to do certain things in a bleeding day (like swimming or exercising sometimes), and you'll have to carry extra in your bag to change out through the day. My advice is to buy the fragrant kind; you'll need em. Also, you'll have to wash that area really well everyday you use them.

Besides that, pads are ok too.

>>14 I guess. I didn't need to relax myself because I didn't feel tense or stressed. I did try different angles. I'll stick to pads, unless someone convinces me otherwise.

>>15 uaaagghh! Fine! I'll push it if I don't have to hear that song! I'll do anything!

If I'm being honest, I kind of liked the song...the joke was corny, but that's the reason why it's funny.

>>18 Same here. But nope! Just someone who's really comfortable talking about their body.

>>16 Yeah, just stick to pads till you've had your first time. Unless the guy had a D smaller than a tampon, it should make things easier for you.

Have you tried using light tampons? They're smaller I think U by kotex (the colorful ones) are the smallest I've used. And if you do stick to pads just carry wipes to keep clean and fresh X)

>>18 I've been mistaken for a troll?
.....
:D
>>20 I'm still young, and I plan to stay a virgin. I do not desire to be in romantic relationships either, which could lead to sex.
>>21 hmm...I think the tampons I used are a normal size. Is carrying wipes strongly recommended when using pads on your period? Gah. Sounds bothersome. I never did that. It probably would lead to better hygiene, though...

I noticed when I attempted again after watching the video Anonymous had linked to, I noticed I was shaking a little. I was a bit tense. I relaxed more. It still didn't work.

>>22 You don't really need to carry wipes, I just use toilet paper to dab a bit before changing pads. The sanitized wipes especially wouldn't be good to use. I heard once that some types of soap and sanitizers can potentially cause infections. You just need to clean yourself with warm water regularly, the vagina has its own bacteria it uses to keep fresh.

>>22 Just use the wipes. It makes yourself cleaner and fresher down there than dry toilet paper. If you're in a public restroom, you won't have the opportunity to dab it with warm water.
