Job Interview at Hot Topic (3)

1 Name: Katsumi Haruna : 2015-07-13 12:35 ID:azFneMAd [Del]

Hello fellow dollars, I'm having an interview at my local Hot Topic for a job and was wondering if any of you have a job there and could provide some hints for the interview and also some idea of how it may possibly go. I'm currently fifteen but I have my work permit so I am allowed to work where I live, I'm responsible and great with people and can easily maintain a friendly yet professional work perspective. I know to bring up only positive things about myself and what I know of the company in the interview and to not only reveal my strengths but also a few weaknesses as well. Also if I don't know how to do something they ask say " No, but I can and am willing to learn."
Thanks for the help.

You already seem prepared.

I think this could help you out, too.

Research their company, don't give fake responses for weaknesses questions. By fake I mean "I work too hard" or something like that.

Also when you are answering questions about strengths, some project you did, etc, be sure to link it back to the company. This is super impressive for them. Something like "...and this experience developed my teamwork skills, which I can bring to the team at Hot Topic".

When you bring up weaknesses, make sure to also note what you are specifically doing to improve or fix it. Be honest about this one (unless you aren't doing anything, then list what you think you should be doing in theory).

You should have a couple questions almost 100% rehearsed:
- Tell me a bit about yourself
- What do you know about the company?
- Why should we hire you?

Especially the first. Come up with key points and summarize everything in terms of the company. So, more links back to what you can bring to them like before.

From the looks of it, it seems like Hot Topic interviews are pretty chill. But for those three questions, you should have awesome responses. You can't possibly prepare for every question possible, especially weird ones like "What animal would you be?", but the basic stuff you will get asked no matter what the interview is for.

I just did a round of interviews and I'm in a co-op program so I have a good idea of what I'm talking about! You can ask more questions too, obviously.
