Oops anime shame (4)

So practically everyone I know doesn't know that I like anime, the certain few either use to watch or watch anime. The reason that I don't tell anyone is because I'm ashamed. I'm pretty popular and I don't want people to label me as weird. Anyway, I was on a app where I had a lot of anime stuff and Idk how, but my phone freaked out and I ended up sharing that link on my FB without even noticing. It wasn't until I logged back in, did I realize that there in my newsfeed was one of my fav anime characters for all the world to see. I immediately deleted but I'm kind of stressed. I know people prob saw it and were like wtf, because I don't post that type of stuff on FB or just in general. And I didn't share it with anything on it so I hope it looks like a mistake. Either way, am I being overly conscious? Compared to a lot of other crap on FB or wierd stuff it's not a big deal, I just don't want them to know that I'm not at popular and perfect as they think I am.

Hey, dude, seriously, here, listen;

Why the hell do you care what other people think?

People like what they like; you shouldn't be ashamed of it, anime is awesome, anime is amazing, and it's an entire world of creators and their creations that tell stories that may not be found in other forms of media in ways that aren't found in other forms of media; people should just accept it and if they don't, well, that's their problem because it shouldn't matter to them anyways. You shouldn't shove it in people's faces, either; that's the opposite extreme. Just be comfortable with who you are and own up to it. What's the point in being "as popular and perfect" as they think you are? That's absurd, nobody is perfect and popularity is completely subjective; liking anime won't affect that if your popularity is based on your character, and what's the point in being known for being somebody you're not?

And this is just my opinion, but I don't see the point in being worried about popularity or not. The only opinions I care about regarding who I am are from people I care about; friends and family. When it comes to acquaintances and strangers, I present myself as I am; I'm not a bad guy, I like what I like and I try to do right by people. I only care what other people think of me to the extent that what they know of me is true, and people are able to form their own opinions about that. Why be ashamed about what you like? What's wrong with being weird? Seriously, everybody can be weird in some way. Life is easy when you embrace your quirks and run with it, because then you have nothing to hide and you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the people around you because they've come to know you as you know yourself.

All I'm trying to say is that you really shouldn't be ashamed of enjoying anime because, like any other form of media, there's good anime and bad anime and you like what you like, and you watch what you want to watch and it makes your life better. That's all there is to it. To be succinct:

I understand why you would perhaps feel the way you do, but you're being overly conscious. I don't act "normal" in public and people still talk to me and enjoy my company, if that means anything. Just be yourself and things will fall into place.

Your friends should accept you for who you really are. I have a few friends who watch stuff that scared the sgit out of me and listen to music that I find odd. But I accept that and don't insult things they like but try and understand why their point of view. I am not a big fan of supernatural but I watched it so that my friend had someone to talk about it with and I started liking it as well.
