Okay so i figured out why i'm so depressed and my psych asked me about it but no matter how hard i tried i couldnt get the words out, i'm confused. Did i not want to tell her or was there something else stopping me?
Maybe you are not ready to talk about it. First just try to say it at loud to yourself (To mirror...) .. And after that try to say it to someone different.. Good luck! Hope this was in someway useful.
>>6 You do know, that the OP is talking about a psychiatrist and not a girl who he has a crush on right? No where in the main post, do i see love anywhere.
Just calm down and think why you have a psychiatrist. You have one to help you. They will help you with everything they've got. Also, just try emailing her, it's a lot simpler that way.
If you can figure out the wording when you're not around anyone else, then you should write it out and rehearse it (say it to yourself out loud). That way you might be less nervous about telling it to someone else. Sending an email or giving your psychiatrist a written version is probably more practical, however saying it face to face would be good practice (something you don't get if you just write it out).
To figure out why you couldn't talk the first time: how were you feeling? for example: if it was getting harder to breathe or if it seemed warmer then you were probably panicking which would make it physically difficult to talk.
Another possibility is for you to ask your psychiatrist to start off asking you simple questions (such as yes / no questions) which might gradually help you open up. If you feel any sort of impulse to expand on an idea or explain something you said, go for it.
Like you said, you should explain "Okay so i figured out why i'm so depressed and my psych asked me about it but no matter how hard i tried i couldnt get the words out, i'm confused. Did i not want to tell her or was there something else stopping me?" to your psych, and ask for her help on this matter. The depression comes after.
