Today, my father shouted at me bc i was telling him that i have a little problem about my grades in school. He immediately told me that I wasn't his child, and that he never have any child like me. He said I was a loser, so now I feel utterly sad. Is it okay if I feel so? I feel so betrayed and disappointed, until I think I have no place anymore to call as a home. Is it normal?
It's normal to feel that way after.being told something like that from your parent, what isn't normal is how your father could say something like that over grades that can always be improved upon with the right help.
Generally, parents are supposed to accept their child as they are. Disappointment can happen because not everyone is perfect, and mistakes will be made. But a good parent is supposed to acknowledge the mistake while offering support without making their own child feel bad. To be disowned, insulted, and treated poorly simply prompts a reaction of feeling hurt, sad, and even disappointed with yourself.
The truth is, you don't really owe your father any respect if he gives you none in return. You are a human being. Parents seem to misunderstand that their child will lead their own life, make their own choices, form their own opinions, and make their own mistakes that they'll learn from. Often, there are many parents that try to mold their children into a copy of themselves, sometimes without realizing it.
You are as normal of a human being as anyone else on this planet is, and don't let people tell you that you're any less than that. There will be people who will put you down in life; don't be one of them.
