disappointment (7)

Right now I'm really really disappointed in myself because I backed out an annual test because I didn't feel prepared enough. I backed out of it the day before the test. If I had had one more week I probably could have been ready for it. I'm also worried my parents will be very disappointed. I'm not really sure what to make of this situation. Any suggestions?

Please help. My mom refuses to accept my decision and is now trying to guilt me into the test (being tomorrow). I already know I'm disappointing everyone. I get it already. How can I get her to accept the fact that I've made a decision?

Is it a kind of test you can retake? If so, just do it and retake it again when you feel better prepared. If not, try to explain calmly why you feel unprepared and that the decision wasn't made lightly. Its hard for parents to accept when their children have grown up and that they can make their own decisions.

Oh my we are in the same kind of situation..I think you should just follow what you think is best for you. If you really will prepare much better after one week then maybe take a medical certificate or smth? That's what I did. Not really solving the problem but i skipped it. But do be careful of it becoming a habit. You'll end up like me which isn't very practical..

Sometimes it's best to just go and do it and then you'll learn that last minute work ain't gonna help much. And then you will try not to end up like this agn (I hope) You can also talk to close friends or a nw you feel comfortable with it and get an overall opinion? But whatever it is all the best for the test! ( and future ones)

I had this exact feeling today!
It was solo contest for high school bands, and I'm a Junior this year. I had been improving the last two years of high school, but this year I decided to drop out last minute. I know my mother isn't pleased, but I'm worried about how my band director will feel about me when we get back from Spring Break.
