Did he just say he likes you? Or did he go into reasons why? He's attracted to you, that much is obvious, but you should ask him why. Why he likes you and if he doesn't know you, then he wants to get to know you better. Unless you like someone else, you should either get to know him better or just tell him that you don't feel the same way.

To be honest, people these days tend to just confess and expect the other person to feel the same way and date them. It's kind of ridiculous in my opinion. If he really likes you, and you felt like it was a serious confession and if you're comfortable- try asking him to go on a date first. It takes courage to confess.

Confession is a little way too much. I think he meaned to say he wants to know you better because he had a crush on you, by your look, by your tastes or both.

Give him a chance to know you better, give you a chance to know him better. It's not a relationship, just a few talks can solve everything.
