NOTE: THIS DOES NOT ONLY APPLY TO LDRs

I'd like to propose a question to those it affects.

For those who have any sort of relationship with anyone (be it family, old friend, or significant other) that you consider a long-distance relationship: do you think you don't see each other as much as you'd like? Do you feel like you don't make physical contact with them enough? Do you find yourself missing their hugs, and hanging out with them? If the answer to any of these is 'yes,' I'd like you to reply to this below with:

1.) relationship type (familial, dating, friend, etc.)
2.) approximate distance (metric or imperial doesn't matter)
3.) length of relationship (in years and months)

Whether you've physically met with this person doesn't matter.

My reason for asking stems from an assignment for one of my courses (an English paper for a college class), as well as my own selfish desire to know I'm not alone in being lonely sometimes. I have an idea for an invention that may affect all of us, and I need your help implementing it. I'm figuring out how to make a machine that allows you to interact with a 'touchable' hologram of another person in real time.

1.) dating
2.) 850 miles
3.) about 9 months

Thanks in advance. I really appreciate all those who contribute.

1.) Friends/dating
2.) 900 mi
3.) Friends for 7 years, dated for 1

I don't think anyone who has people in his or her life that are far away doesn't feel lonely without them at one time or another.

1)A friend. But I fixed it to late...
2)Almost 3/4 of the world.
3)1 year, but only started to actually get along near the end.

We were next to each other in almost everything I was just to stupid to talk... Then we became friends, but she was an exchange student so yea... That happened. Might never meet again for all I know.

But I keep in mind one thing: No matter how far, no matter how close. The distance shall always be as far as the screen and a key away. Its a sad truth T_T

We've been through such a rough patch with my parents not wanting to approve of my relationship. But now it's different, everything is going well and every year the distance between us is closing. It's been a long ride..but it was all worth it! =)

A lot of people know that distance can easily tear each other apart. If you and your lover do separate because of a few miles, it was probably never meant to be

>>18 That's a long time, bro. You have me curious on your story now. I won't ask because that'd be rude of me, but you do sound like an interesting person. Props for your loyalty

I graduated high school and my friends traveled all over the state (my best friend even moved nearly 500 miles away) I don't get to see any of them as much as i would like, and we don't exactly keep in contact the best, but that's all part of growing up. Even my girlfriend lives in a different city from me. if you are meant to have any form of a relationship with someone, it'll happen naturally.
