Stress Killing (20)

1 Name: Yugen!UhQ.rlWWhw : 2015-01-30 13:47 ID:BMZZI0zo [Del]

Okay so this is a fairly simple thread. I need help. I don't know exactly how stressed I am, but apparently more stressed than most. I've been having increasingly serious health complications that all seem to point to stress. For example; loss of appetite, lots of air in my digestive system (probably from erratic breathing and a confused esophagus), chest pains very very near, if not on/in, my heart organ, abdominal pains, and general insomnia.

The stress can be attributed to any number of reasons from the following:
-I have practically terminated any sort of relationship I could have with my father (because sometimes the last straw really is the last straw)
-college classes
-long distance relationship (800 miles / 1350 km)
-trying to get a job for literal months now
-no in-person friends to hang out with
-no emotional outlet
...there's probably more, but I cant think of any off the top of my head right now.

Please guys. I'm sick of having multiple 'heart seizures' a night, and my girlfriend is getting more and more worried since I don't have the money to see a doctor about it.

Thanks in advance guys

I don't mean to attentionwhore here, but I'm kind of bordering on heart attacks and would really appreciate a little assistance...

I don't believe you're having heart attacks its most likely panic attacks. Panic attacks are pretty bad and do cause a lot of problems in order to help yourself from having these attacks you need to not be stressing about things. You need to do activities where you can relieve stress and then you'll start feeling better.

I'm asking what can I do to relieve it, because they're getting more frequent and more painful as the hours go by. What kind of activities?

Um... I don't have anything really. I mean there's one thing, but I can't do it. I don't have an engine to tinker with, nor the money to buy one

Meditation is something you can do anywhere with silence. If you can use guided meditation and ease your mind, it helps organize yourself and reduce stress.

>>7 "guided meditation"? Traditional meditation never used to have much of an effect, not sure if it'll do anything now

About as okay as I can be when I'm doubled over from chest pain half the time, and rapidly losing weight because I can't eat

I'm no doctor, so I don't know how much help I'll be. You should find something to take your mind off the stress. Even if you don't have any hobbies now, try to find new ones. Go out for a walk/run or play a game you loved as a kid. Something that will help clear your head.

Any other ideas? Today's lasted half an hour and felt like someone lined my heart with broken glass...

The idea is to see a doctor. If you really don't have money for it, see someone you know outside the site that has real medical expertise. Most people here don't and it's not like this is a social or emotional problem. It's a physical pain, I don't think you are going to find a lot of useful stuff here.

see a doctor. you'll probably get some xanax or zoloft to handle the panic attacks--but that's just the symptoms. it looks like you did a good job identifying the root of your problems: stress. it's good that you have your girlfriend to turn to, tell her that you're going through a rough time and ask her to be patient with you. if meditation (credit to rishe) doesn't work, try working out. doing pushups in the morning goes a long way and triggers the release of endorphins, which will ultimately make you feel better. once youre more relaxed, the job and friend search will get easier. stay strong, yugen!

Thanks guys. That reminds me, I took a medical class in high school from an ex-nurse. She's probably still there. I'll try and contact her. >>14 thanks for the reminder.

>>15 Thank you. I'll try and keep a routine

Sorry to trouble, guys. I really appreciate this.

Update:

I'm getting pains even when I'm not having an attack now. I'll be visiting the doc tomorrow about it in hopes that I'll find out something I didn't already know.

Wish me luck. I hope it's nothing serious.

Update:

The pains are bad enough to keep me from even standing. Saw the Doc today. Got an EKG and an x-ray done and they didn't see anything. Usually that means A.) it's literally just my brain harming my body or B.) something serious and small. Physically, my heart is very healthy. Just above normal. Nice and big too, which I never knew.

He suggested I take antacids while I'm having an 'attack,' just in case its acid reflux or gas going places it shouldn't. He wrote me something for some anxiety-reducing meds which helps a lot already, I've had about 5 spontaneous outbursts of pain since I felt the meds kick in, and they hurt significantly less and for less time. I feel really weird though. Been a long time since I've taken any medicine.

Anyway, I'm alive for now. He wants me to come back in a few weeks to see if anything changes.

Hope you get better soon, I've had a history of some serious stress problems myself (well my insomnia and appetite loss still isn't going away) but haven't seen one like yours in a while. I'm pretty sure nothing is physically affecting your body, but it's just the brain going apeshit(but don't quote me on that lol) Happens sometimes to me, just make sure you get sleep and try to do some cardio exercises. Also if you need an outlet, feel free to say what's on your mind here or contact someone, it's unhealthy to bottle it all in.
