Does anyone else listen to a song sometimes, whether it be sad or happy, (for me personally sad) where it moves you or means something strong to you and it can make you feel a certain way, or make you think, or remind you of something? I know some people, and some of my friends say that they listen to music because its entertaining, or they enjoy it, but personally, music means more to me than just some form of entertainment. Does anyone else feel this way?

Music usually makes me sad or emotional but its like it can pin point the problem I have at the moment while I still don't realize what it is.

@Sparky You've got what you call musical intelligence and it means much more than just enjoying it. For me it's like a vocabulary, like the alphabets.

When I wake up I have certain songs playing in my head that I didn't force out. These songs usually have a hidden meaning which I have to find. Today I woke up a little late with the song, 'if today was your last' playing in my head. I guess it meant I should wake up and live for the day, because you never know when you won't be here anymore.

music is music. whether there are lyrics needed or it's just instrumental. there are 2 reasons i know of why people listen to music. it's either entertaining, or they are finding meaning into it like, a burst of emotions or something that can change the mood of someone listening to it. a single person can listen to music with the reasons of it being entertaining or trying to listen to music to know what it conveys. well not that you need to read all of this, i'm just saying that i listen to music for both entertainment and to find the meaning of the song.

Of fucking course. Who do you think you're talking to? Anime and music changed my view on my entire life and helped me when my parents where too busy fighting. I've never been able to talk to my parents about stuff. They have so much on their late as it is, plus they have bad habits that prevent them to really listen to me. I really love my friends but I can never tell them the whole truth. Recently, I told one of my friends about my elementary life (which was the darkest of days before anime and music came into play) which was for me a great achievement in 2014. But in the end, it was always the lyrics in a song or a quote or scene in an anime I could always relate to the most.

I think one song which I think might be one many people here can relate too is one called 'this song saved my life' I'm not sure who by, but its one that means a lot and I can relate to.

Music is entertainment. But it means so much more. To me, I live for music. It's something anyone can relate. If the song is about depression, there are tons of people who can relate to that. And because of that, it makes us feel more connected to music. It makes us feel accepted that an artist know how it feels to be happy, depressed, drunk, or whatever problems people deal with. :)

yep.. mostly sad, but always have meanings, sometimes that save lifes :3

Actually one band which I'm finding some good songs in that I find easy to relate to is a band called Marianas Trench, there are a couple of their songs in their first album which I can personally relate to.
