What do I do... (3)

Last night I couldn't sleep at all... There are some thoughts I've pushed out of my mind for years and last night they came crawling back... I think I might be gay. It started back when I was really little, I never felt a strong attraction to girls and even now, with my girlfriend I just feel so scared. What do I do? I'm so scared of coming out to my family because they really are not accepting. They've told me before that they wouldn't be okay with me being gay and that I wouldn't be able to have their support. I'm really scared. Please what do I do?

Hey there friend,

Take a deep breath! It's worth considering, first of all, that everyone has a different experience and position of sexuality and, importantly, that position is always changing. The way you felt when you were young and the way you feel now does not have to define you. I think it's really great that you're considering and becoming aware of your sexuality and that it might be different from what your parents expect of you; Just remember that there are HUGE support networks out there for you and that you're never alone.

I think you should consider calling a helpline for advice so that you can talk to people who have experience and training with these situations, especially for advice as to how to aproach talking to your parents, if that's what you want to do. If you are scared of your parents overhearing you or looking at your phone history maybe try asking a friend to let you use their phone.

I hope that you are surrounded by people who can give you support, whatever the situation is, and that you have people you can open up to. Although the internet can be a great place to find people feeling the same way I think it's really important to have people near you who you can trust and have a history with.

It's understandable that you feel scared, I hope you can find the strength to make a positive more forward. I would start by google searching the best helpline in your area. This video I think is interesting to look at too when considering what these kind of feelings mean and how completely different everyone is:
