Stress about Exams and real life. (6)

1 Name: Kuro : 2014-11-05 02:15 ID:omRRc2mU [Del]

My Art Exam is coming up shortly and i'm honestly stressed about it, i'm worried that i wouldn't do well and would screw up... I'm one of those who panics a lot and gets anxious over Exams...

Then again, there's also another problem which sort of doubles my stress... I have this problem of being too insecure and not confident about myself. Many times i've found myself picking out my own flaws and wondering why the heck would anyone even bother to put up with me till now. It isn't really self-pity or things like that but it's just that my friends especially, could've been friends with someone better than me.

I'm sort of a shut-in, an introvert in real life and many times when i find myself wanting to speak up, my voice just gets stuck in my throat. I'm also someone's who gets a little too conscious about the looks i receive from public which just adds to my insecurity.

I suppose that's my rant on my problems...

Unfortunately there's no quick cure for anxiety or low self-esteem. The best you can do is talk to a therapist, probably.

As for exams, they're really quite hard to fail. In my experience most people have to actively try to do badly in order to fail.

There are also probably much worse people, so putting up with you is a piece of cake. People with too much confidence are more painful than those without as much.

Shut-ins and introverts usually have a specialist subject or two: what are yours? Mine are computing, electronic music and anime.

Learning to speak up will take a while, but it's probably worth it. There's nothing worse in this world than not being heard.

Regarding looks from people in public: more often than not they're just extending their curiosity as human beings and cannot be faulted, so the problem is definitely you not wanting to be seen. I also recommend a therapist for this.

Ganbatte! We'll cheer for you from the shadows to do well on your exams!

I guess you mean college exams, huh? Been there, done that! I know at the time, tests and projects can easily overwhelm you, and it's good in a way, because that means you're taking your education seriously. But remember that that one exam won't define you. You'll take it like normal, go to sleep that night like normal, and wake up the next day like normal too. And then life keeps going! Just like any other part of your life, do your best at the time and things will work out.

And keep in mind that there's always the possibility your friends have the same insecurities you do! If you enjoy being with them and they enjoy being with you, that's what matters! Remember, don't base your opinion of yourself on what you perceive others are thinking about you. Often, your perceptions aren't going to be right, or those people don't even matter enough to impact you!

Maybe something that would help you would be to think of or write down one thing each day that either you did well, or some small thing that made you happy. Taking notice of even one little thing will help you stay positive and build up your confidence a bit!

Best wishes ★

I guess the best way to deal with the stress of the art exam is to prepare for it if it's the kind of exam where you have to create something in class in present it. Which, for art is kinda hard I tend to find that I have moments where it is easy as pie to create something and times where everything looks like utter shit.

If it's the kinda exam where you have a week or two to work on it then start now! Do some sketches work out some ideas. I find that my stress level tends to go down if I know that I'm making progress on a project rather than the times where I put it off or keep changing my mind on what I'm going to do.

I hope my advice helps!
