Okay dollars here's the case...

What do you think about people and their opinions?

I believe it's great if we all have our own opinion and even if we differ we should still voice it out and listen to others..

But what if someone is being an ass about their opinion? What if someone goes too far?

You see my friend wore a new dress for a presentation of pageant candidates and asked our classmates on their opinion about the dress. We said it was great. Some said okay. Others said not. But this one girl, said it looked horrible on her...

It would've been fine if she stopped there but she had to go over this rant that the color was horrible, the tailoring is disgusting, and that we should believe her because she's won a pageant before...

My friend started crying but the girl won't stop.... We made her shut up though she said she was just giving her opinion..

What do you think dollars? What do you think the limit of expressing your opinion? We all have the freedom but we should all respect other's opinion.

I honestly think your friend shouldn't have asked for an opinion if there were opinions that she couldn't take. No, the girl was not right to be a complete jerk. No, your friend did not deserve it or probably expect such rude comments. But she welcomed opinions in. The thing about opinions... People can give theirs however they want if you ask for it. They can be overly nice or downright rude. But you need to ignore the downright rude people, or have a counter opinion. "Oh really? The stitching is terrible? How would you have done it differently? What colors would you have used?" Then there is always being a snot right back. "Oh, YOU'RE the one that won in a pageant? Well don't you come right up here and give my presentation for me??"

there are opinions, ignorant opinions, and arrogant opinions... opinions themselves are fine, but when you add ignorant or arrogant to them, they are annoying and pointless. Ignorant opinions are opinions from someone who has no idea what they are talking about, or don't want to even consider the other side of things. Ignorant opinions are by far my most hated ones, because they tend to try to argue about it when they have no idea what they are talking about. Arrogant opinions, are usually opinions relating to themselves, like "Oh yea I'm so buff, I could take on all of you"... yea annoying as hell to listen too... or even "This is my favortie music, I hate listening to the other crap" is an arrogant opinion. Opinions in themselves are not the problem, and usually end up even making things try to improve on it, but it's when they get cocky, bais, or offensive with their opinions thats the problem, and thats the person's problem. Example: "I think the red dress suites you better, and it matches your date" Good, sounds like good advice. Example #2: "That dress looks awful, you really shouldn't go with that one." It sounds offensive, even though it's basically the same thing. Wording your opinions is a very important matter, the last one seemed more ignorant because they had no reason as to why it looked bad, while the first one did.
