So, I've decided to come to my Dollars for some input. Let me tell you the story, and you tell me just what you think of all the things I tell you.
Roughly a year ago, I began working at a local candy store. The building it is hosted in is the same building that the owners have lived in for many, many years.
It really is a great job, it is everything a person like me would want. But, as luck may have it, "weird" things started happening. Weird meaning unexplainable, slightly terrifying, and strange. The weird things didn't seem so peculiar at first, being as it was all easily explained. Seeing people out of the corner of my eye- only to have them not be there when I look. Easy to explain, right? My significant other likes to say, "You're just tired. You see things when you're tired." or "You're just paranoid." So, despite my gut dropping every time it happened, I ignored it. This got more and more intense until one day I was alone filling the chocolate melters. When I say alone, I mean the other employees have left for the day and will not be returning until morning. Keep this in mind.
While filling the melters, I opened up the one we call "The big melter." The opening of the melter is on top with a rectangle door, just a few inches short than I am.
Filling any of the melters isn't always easy, and since the last cleaning the melter received people had gotten chocolate stuck in the hinges of the top door. As you might imagine, this makes it hard to open or close. Hard enough that it takes more than a poke to close it. Well, I was filling the melter and listening to the quiet music from the radio many feet away when looked away from the melter to grab another piece of chocolate. So, with one hand I was dropping a piece of chocolate in the melter, and with the other I was grabbing more chocolate. I felt something on the hand dropping chocolate in, and when I looked the door had been lightly shut on my hand. No pain, no noise, nothing. Just shut. I opened it back up and, knowing that this is my job and I can't just run away, I stayed and finished filling the melter.
I continued to see people who never were there.
And to add onto it, something I didn't even find strange happened to be strange and brought to my attention today.
The elevator would sometimes open just as I needed it (WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE BUTTONS.) I don't quite know if all elevators work the same, but this particular one does not go upstairs unless it is called. When I would be going downstairs, I would approach the elevator and, without me having called it, it will open up and reveal an empty space. This happens quite a lot.
And then, the thing that really threw me off.
Two days ago, I was at work alone taping boxes shut. We have these tape dispensers that are large and have water jugs on the sides. They take this reinforced paper tape, wet it, and spit it out for you to use. We have four of them upstairs, and I was using one. They all beep when you turn them on or jam them. That's an important detail.
I was walking past a ling of three tape dispensers when I noticed my coworker left one on. I flipped the black switch off. The light on the switch turned off, and I went back to my station.
Then I heard a beep.
My head shot up, as I immediately knew that it was not MY machine that made that noise, and I quickly, though reluctantly, walked back out to look at the machine I had just turned off. And surely enough, it was back on. I left it be, finished my shift, and left.
Aside from the things I've mentioned, the upstairs door is always opening and shutting when no one is there. I used to believe that the owners stayed behind to finish up work, but then I learned that they often left by 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and I stayed until 8.
Today was hell. I was taping a box shut and this... black fog shit came at me. Look, I need some assistance here. What the hell do I do? It is creeping me out. I don't exactly enjoy something lurking just out of my vision...

I brought it up to some coworkers before I left today because they always tease me. When I told them what happened, they got serious and said, "Oh, it must be " I can't say the man's name, as it would give away the candy store name and thus my location, but they said it was the founder of the candy store. He died in the building as it was his home for a time. Now they don't have a living area, but they never redid the building.
They said he was really nice and that he must be opening the elevators for people and such. He apparently helps out with making people remember stuff.
My only question is, why would he "remind" me about the tape dispenser? Or the chocolate mixer? Just.. ugh. I want to know, but I don't want to get mixed up in tarot cards, ouji boards, and demons.

My lover told me when it comes to spirits don't entertain it. Just go to church and pray and continue your job. I prayed a few times before but not usually myself only when I was afraid to see certain things and hoped it was a dream. I don't think demons and windigos are easily to tell go away but idk I guess if you pray that's the best thing. I put a bottle of water against my wall before to have no entry for spirits but if they ask to come in that's a way for spirits to enter. If you say yes that is. I recommend you not to think of it so much but pray and tell it to leave that store.

Today I was struggling with a set of the wheels we use to push candy bar orders around on. I was inching toward the elevator with the set, angry that I could barely walk. When I was still a good five feet from the elevator, it opened. I mumbled a thank you and got on. I feel ridiculous, and scared.

Everyone is going to tell you "hurr demon, hurr paranormal activity 5 hurrr." That will get you no where.
It's not a demon because demons don't open doors to trick you.
Demons also aren't always out to get people like JewHollywood would have you think either.

If this isn't made up, then I can say with 100% certainty, this ghost is not a mean one.

You have no right or excuse to be freaked out, okay?

Well this is just an advice but try o ignore it. When you give attention to it, it will "like" you more. I mean it might follow you. Next is about the camera thing..
There's a certain way to know if there is a ghost in a place by using your camera but you might not want to know what is it, if you captured it, so I don't really recommend it since I'm a never tried it myself (I'm a scardey cat). Lastly I think you're handling things well, just don't upset it and you'll be fine :)
I hope this helps, and Keep safe!

From what I understand, Demons (some) are deities that have fallen out of power due to the rise of other religions. So not all of them are bad. They're called "Demons" cause they aren't what the other religion deems right. Doesn't mean they're all good. But doesn't mean they are all bad either.

If I can't see it and it is interacting with things around me...? That freaks me the hell out. I'm not trying to drag this out, I'm sorry, but how can I ignore something that happens to be one the biggest things I fear..? I've always feared what I can't see. I don't WANT to see it, but knowing that something is moving about and existing without me noticing is just downright weird. How do you deal with something like that..? I tried so hard to just focus and not even glance at the clock in fear of seeing anything weird. I don't know how I could ignore it if it were to turn a machine on again or something...

Your story is so scary TT^TT I understand how you cannot concentrate on your work because of these, even though it doesn't do any serious harm to you. Actually, I never have any experience as creepy as this, but my friend who can feel the presence of that kind of creature has. One day her wallet fell down from the table and when it touched the floor, it stood up vertically. When she yelled, 'don't disturb me!', suddenly the wallet fell down. My friend who has sixth sense told me that there was 'something' that keep following her. Maybe that is quite similar with you . I don't suggest you to try to communicate with it. But, if you want it to stop doing something around you, maybe you can try to do so. However, you shouldn't make it angry. For you saying 'thank you' was a good choice. In my religion, we doesn't believe of something like a ghost from people who had died that keep haunting in real world. But, there are some supernatural creatures who like to imitate the behavior of human that has already died. So, it seems as if the person who has died keep haunting that place. It's okay if you don't believe me. But, I wish you luck! Ganbatte kudasai! I hope you will be okay :)

From that you say, this sounds like a brownie or a urisk...
It's a bit strange that it chose to live in a sotre, but it actually makes a lot of sance if you say the owner used to live there for long.

The best thing to do, is not to upset it. It's a spirit that usually like to help, and might be pooling off some non-hurmfull pranks at times. Be polite, be nice, and leave a bowl of milk or cream or a few coockies outside the door when you leave. Not too much, just a bit, so the spirit will feel apriciated (but not like you want it to do more work for you!!)

When you see a person in the corner of your eye - don't try to look at it or "catch it at the act" it's the brownie, and they don't like to be seen. (Or acnoledged. Don't act as if there is nothing there - just like there is someone with you and you don't have anything to say. They like their privacy and doing their own things...
Basically, once you give it some milk and not poke to much about it, it will happily live there and will help around a bit.

Last few things -
Don't try to talk to it or name it. It dosn't want to hurt you, just some milk. If you hear someone say anything where there shouldn't be anyone there, It'll feel very uncomptrable if it knows you heard it or seen it.

27 Name: Roxanne : 2014-08-27 10:40 ID:LMF5T9uz [Del]

If anything, just tell it to stop and leave. You have to accept that its there even how afraid you are of it. The best thing to do is not ignore it but don't stop working because of it. For me I acted like it was a dream but if its real I'm not going to ignore it but tell it to leave if I want it to that bad. They told me I should so I guess this is an ok advice to pass down. Good Luck. Trust me I usually don't pray for anything unless it's that bad.

>>25 This is what I have been taught as well. That there are things you can't see, but your loved ones will never come back to haunt you. It is either an angel or a demon. But, whether I believe it or not is hard to say. I have been trying my hardest to remember to do everything the right way, as people say it tries to remind us about things we've forgotten.

>>26 I'm not entirely certain if I believe in the existence of brownies (the fairy, not the desert... I sort of work in a bakery, so that would be a little weird of me.) But if I did, I'm sure my boss would have a problem with me leaving milk and cookies outside of the store's doors. I don't want to get caught doing anything weird. The owners themselves are religious, so it would be a little hard to explain to them just what I was doing and such.

>>27 This is likely what I will do. Ignore it to the best of my ability and tell it to leave me alone politely. Honestly, everyone at work who talked about similar happenings seemed pretty okay with the idea of a ghost just doing whatever around the place. Perhaps I'll become less scared of it and accept it without too much of a problem?

Thank you everyone. So much, seriously, I'm just glad people even looked at this. It means a lot. But if anything worse happens, I'm coming back to this immediately.
Thank you

I usually think of everyone I meet (or see or encounter or anything like that) as probably a nice person because I'm pretty sure no one wants anyone to have bad impressions of them, and technically ghosts are people (I guess there can be ghosts that are animals bu same thing anyway I guess), so I wouldn't assume this ghost is trying to kill you. I'd say either the ghost is trying to help in some way or it's just messing with you (because be honest, if you were a ghost it would be fun to mess with people). And anyway, if it really wanted to kill you or hurt you in any way, it's had lots of chances by now.

>>29 It's not really about what it could do to me... Don't get me wrong, if a knife came flying at me I would high tail it out of there. But like I said, it's the idea that there is something there that is interacting with me that I cannot see.

I hope things either settle down or I become a little more able to cope with it.
