I live in Tasmania and I need help with work experience, I want to get into Anime animation but I don't know what sort of work experience I would have to do to lead up into it. I also cant find anything related to Japanese arts. I know that getting into anime animation without being in japan is highly unlikely but I would still like to give it a try. Can someone please help with what sort of work experience I should do.

I'm writing this with the assumption that you know how to animate or are learning how to do so now. Let me say now that you're most likely not going to get an animating job in Japan, but that doesn't mean you can't do Japanese animations at all.

Right now, work for your portfolio - for free. Either help other people animate their characters or animate your own. Make a collection of great animations that you can store on a website and show to prospective employers. You should also work out a resume (if you have any work experience).

A good way to get experience is with indie game designers from your country, especially those who design with an anime style. Make small animations for those games to get your name in the credit of as many as you can. Getting a reputation will get you more practice and help you strengthen your portfolio and resume. From there, you can apply to proper jobs or start more specialized projects.
