(WARNING : Long post)

So, I have been looking for a job for the past couple weeks and had applied at a local grocery store hoping to obtain a job as an overnight shelf stocker, I liked the general idea of it.

After I got there I went in for the "Group interview" and found 5 others sitting around at the table, also there for the interview. We were all asked to fill out our papers and then one by one stand up and read off what we had written down, I myself really do not care for this kind of thing nor do I enjoy it, I was one of the first people dismissed and sent off with a "Thanks for coming, check your email maybe we'll need you someday".

My only thought "Yeah right" As I awkwardly shook the hands of each of the bosses and gave the last one a fist bunch just to see his reaction, He thought it odd...

And with that I left, so I started the 5 mile walk home, made it about halfway there and stopped at the mcdonalds and got a drink of water for the trip.

As I began to walk home I noticed the Frozen yogurt place had a speaker playing some music, I didn't remember it playing this kind of music, or any kind, so I entered into the building and thought "Maybe I could work here"

Everything was green and purple and smelled of windex after finishing scanning my surroundings and figuring no one was here and whoever worked counter was in the back so I took a seat on the kids chair and just waited for a couple moments.

After a bit of time A girl came to the counter, her eyes were a little bit red and watery as if recent crying had taken place.

"How was your day?" I asked out of Curiosity hoping to figure out why she was upset...

To my surprise she started to vent telling me she had just lost her job as a receptionist at some other company and was fixing to lose this job in which she had worked at for 3 years...

I asked her why, she replied " I was 20 minutes late this morning, My dog died...This is the worst day ever."

So she had came in late due to her dog dying and these people were going to fire her for it.

I thought that was odd, due to the style of music (Christian music) that was playing I thought...I do not know maybe I thought they'd be more forgiving...But maybe i didn't know the whole situation what I did know was that someone was having a tough day.

I did what any Dollar would do...

I sought to cheer her up, after talking with her about different kinds of dogs, cats and some tv we had been talking for hours, I did my best to tell as many jokes as I could and to my surprise she laughed at my dumb jokes, and her smile was one of the most rewarding things.

After buying a bottle of Root beer I tipped her 5$ but then asked..."How much have you ever been tipped?" while she was freaking out over the tip (Excitement) She replied... 10 dollars... So I took the paper back and put a 1 in front of the 5 dollars in which I had given so NOw I have tipped her 15 dollars.

She gave me a smile and thanked me a hundred times over and I learned we go to the same church.

Before I left she said "There needs to be more people like you..."

I had helped someone I had done something others may not have, 3 hours of my day

15 dollars of a tip

and I had earned a friend.

This isn't something I do all the time, but why not?

Why not stop by someone who is having a bad day and make it better, I do not want to be normal...I do not like labels but I do like to help people, I haven't seen her since that time.

i still sometimes think of her, sounds odd I know but there is a great feeling when you help someone...Humility I don't know, but it's a great feeling.

I think of The Dollars should go out of there way to help people as much as we can.

I am as turtle as someone can be, and I was able to help someone with this in mind do not let your lack of confidence and fear stop you from helping others.

Thanks for reading this, I felt I needed to post it somewhere, maybe the Dollars will care.
