It's a Sad World (10)

The other night, I was waiting at the bus stop to go home from work. I'm always self conscious, but even more so when I'm done at work. I'm covered in chocolate and sugar, my hair is stuck every which way from my hair net, and I'm generally tired and feel like crap. When a girl slowly walked past me and gave me a look, I gave her a little smile before quickly averting my eyes. She then stepped closer and said, "I'm really sorry, but do you have something I can go onto facebook with?" I was sort of hesitant, but what was she going to do? Steal my fifty dollar phone? It wouldn't take much to get it back. So I opened the internet and handed her my phone. She explain to me that she needed to get someone's number. I didn't press the matter, but with every little bit of her current situation that she revealed to me I was increasingly curious. "I ran away." "I'm very irresponsible, that's why I'm in this mess." "I don't want to go home." I sat there with her and just let her talk while she tried to get the number she needed. The bus pulled up then, but it wasn't mine. She gave it a quick and panicked stare. "It's here already?" I could tell that she didn't get the information she needed. I offered to ride the bus with her, they all go to the same place at one point or another anyways. She was so grateful that I did this so that she could get the number. While we sat on the bus together, she told me that she had just moved to my city. She said that she hated it. She lived with her dad and brother. Her mom was back where she had come from. She explained that her and her brother were home alone and he started fighting with her and getting violent. When she went to leave, he stole her phone. I'd heard people say earlier that they had seen a girl of her description and a male fighting, so I assumed it was the same situation. She said that she needed a place to go and that she needed to get someone's number to get there. I let her do what she needed, and finally she made it to a safe place. At first, I thought she was just a trouble maker running away from home because that's what stupid teenagers do. They think its cool to run away from home and do stupid things... to rebel, really. But this girl had a serious reason. I don't even care if I assisted a runaway, she deserves a safe place to stay. I hope she's alright.

It depends, you wouldn't like to get involve with a missing person not telling you much about themselves. Get her name as well and ask where she's from if anything. You don't want to get too close so quickly. Besides for her be sure of yourself to know who you're about to help.

I'm confident in my decision. I could tell she needed something from the moment she walked past, and I myself have been through similar circumstances. I don't need to know a human to know that my instinct on this certain matter would be extremely accurate. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't help just anyone the same way. I'm not very impulsive on these matters. As much as I appreciate the reply, I don't need people telling me how to take care of the situations I face. I wanted simply to express not only my sadness towards what the world is becoming and what children are driven to do, but also my happiness that I helped a girl out of a bad situation.

Oh, wow.

The manner you write is quite captivating. If you published a book, I'd read the shit out of it.

Apologies, don't mind me. Just passing through.

>>9 Not a problem. I appreciate the feedback anyways. I know some kids run away and lie about it simply because they think it's a good idea or something they can get away with.
>>8 Uh, thanks I believe. Hopefully this can inspire us to do more for people?
