So I Roleplay (RP) a lot. And sometimes when I'm RP-ing, I put my emotions into it. And I don't really know if this is a good or bad thing. Is it a bad thing to RP? Am I going a little too far with the RP? I usually get emotionally attached to things, so I'm emotionally attached to RP-ing.

I need help to not be so attached to it. I have friends on the internet. And I talk to them and RP with them daily. So I usually forget about real life when I'm RP-ing. And I'm always on my computer and talking to my internet friends. I've become more antisocial in real life, so I need to find a way to not be so emotionally attached to the internet and RP-ing. I was hoping you guys could give me some advice. If you have any advice, please comment below.

You sound a lot like a friend of mine. She always gets emotionally attached to whatever she enjoys (rp, anime, shows, books, whatever). She can get really into it and it's totally fine with me so long as she's happy. Sometimes she gets too into role-playing with her friends, so when we're hanging out I see her on her phone all the time and it kind of makes me mad. It's good that she's happy, and hopefully you are too, but if this is bothering the people around you I think you should try to step away from it for a while. Think about what you like to do outside of the internet/rp-ing (which I personally know is very hard to do, especially in the summer). Like, if you have pets or younger siblings play with them. Maybe get into art or reading...just whatever interests you, really. Or, you could rp off the internet! Probably out of public of course, but you could rp your character in your house or something for fun! Idk if that's weird, but I do it!

>>1 once in awhile I rp (and I'll be honest here, it's the dirty kind). I don't get emotionally attached to it but I get emotionally attached to things like anime and I can see a relationship between the two. Rp for you sounds like an escape, you rp to get awhile from reality for awhile and you love it so much that you've become emotionally attached. That isn't wrong, rping isn't wrong so long as it doesn't have a negative impact on your real life. Being antisocial isn't necessarily a bad thing, however unless it's to the extent to which you don't talk with people in real life at all and that affects your ability to go to school or find work. A way to fix this before it may get worse is to limit your intake. Tell yourself that you can only rp for a total of three hours per day, something like that. A way to get less emotionally attached and may even benefit you would be to turn these rps into stories. If you have a lot of emotion in it then that can lead to some fantastic writing no matter the genre, I suggest giving that a shot as well. I hope that this helps~! :3
