You have a bad habit? You want to fix it? Try this out.

Nothing can fix a bad habit better than mindfulness I believe, support and willpower. This thread is for that. Tell us about your bad habit (even if you'd rather not be explicit, admitting to having one is more important). From then on, try to post here every day or so just to keep track of yourself... i.e., another day gone without giving in. Check back here everytime you feel that the habit may be winning over your will, it will be your reminder of the effort you've already put in so far. See what other people are having trouble with, take a moment to give them some support. The point is, most people have a thing or two that it would be better for them to avoid; at the risk of sounding cliché, rather than hodling to the notion that we've got to fight the battle alone, let's start working together for the sake of self improvement.

Remember, the strength we have in numbers can become strength within us. Good will.

Ahh here we are~ I've had this bad habit of biting at the skin around my fingers since I was around 4 years old. Lately I've been extremely hard on myself and I haven't made myself bleed in over 2 weeks. (Whereas i would bleed everyday...) I'm actually doing a lot better, and now with this thread I'll be sure to try even harder and check in every so often ^^

Here goes. I can't go for about more than one hour without something really sugary and sweet. I already have dental issues resulting from dental fluorosis, impacted wisdom teeth, and a genetic predisposal to gum disease, but I continue to make things worse for myself. I have several cavities, most of which aren't filled because I don't like to get fillings and yet I just keep making things worse. I just can't help it though, I love sweets; particularly the kinds which are extremely bad for your teeth like fruit chews and sour patch products and raisinets. I've tried giving them up many times and have succeeded for quite a while at times but I always come back to it when I've got long stints of work. I don't think I'll ever be able to give them up for good, but I need to severely decrease the frequency that I eat them. ..so, here's my shot at this.

>>2 the worst habits are the ones we can do easily and for free I think. I'm not a big fan for what I think of as 'made-up disorders' but you could have said I had Trichotillomania because I used to subconciously pull out my hair when doing anything that didn't require both hands. It was never noticeable because rather than just straight pulling hair out I'd work on one for quite a while, gently tugging until the hair eventually came out (excuse the indepth explanation :3). The only way I can avoid doing it is through concentrating on not doing it, or when I can't put in the effort to be vigilant, gelling my hair.

Well...I've been good with the chewy/sour candy lately :) But it's too early to say I've conquered it - I'll be back when I have a breakdown.

On another note, I just recently realized yet another bad habit, and one I've recently acquired! Commenting/Posting here when it's uncalled for and unnecessary. Heretofore, I will not post/comment when there are more important things I have to attend to..which is all the time.., unless I feel overwhelming compelled to do so. #NewResolution
