Some idiots at school have been saying that I'm crazy for being emo. So I choose to be depressed and cynical, but that's my personality. Being emo is about expressing yourself. So some idiots commit suicide, but that's their problem for being too childish to resolve their issues.

Explain to me what you think emo is. Then we'll talk.

Constant cynicism is unhealthy n seriously wrecks social skills, so yes, the attributes you are saying is your personality, as if it is something so simple, is bad.

Saying you decided to be depressed is a bit odd... Why choosing to be depressed ? Cynical? Why not just having a laugh on idiots, and keep looking for better people?

You'll always find stupid people who will judge. Show that you are better than just sad and cynical against them. They don't worth your time mate.

About other people, who cut themself... Do you have to worry about it? I mean, do you know anybody in that situation?

If no, I don't really see why you'd talk about them: you don't need to be emotion to commit suicide.

People don't just decide to be depressed take this from someone who is chemically imbalanced. Plus suicide isn't stupid you obviously don't know what it's like to feel suicidal, when you feel so bad that you feel their is not other solution to you're problem, someone committing suicide doesn't mean they haven't been pro-active in trying to sort out their problems. Again take this from me who tried to get help and was turned down at pretty much every turn the only help I did get wasn't adequate. I see no harm in dressing emo but you're ignorance is mildly disturbing, I say mildly because your still in school so I'm guessing you're still quite young so life hasn't hit you with all it has to offer just yet.

Suicide is no joke at all. Do you even understand the pain and the horrible thoughts that someone would face that made them think that the only possible way out was death at their own hands? Of course you don't. Someone I once knew committed suicide so right now this is a touchy subject for me. I don't know you OP and I don't mean to judge you but when you say things like this on the internet you are just plain ignorant. You hypocritically just judged people who commit suicide yet are complaining that people call you crazy? Seriously. Suicide isn't a joke. Depression isn't a joke. And neither is being emo. Think twice about what you say next time. Sorry if I came off meaner than I should have.

To be honest being emo isn't a major thing however, the people around you make you feel like shit, I'm not emo but i usually look like a person that is depressed because when i walk into 6th form/ College, i have a straight face and people just stare at you. You should ignore the people around you but, being emo is actually a bad idea because your labelling your self as a person that is always depressed, you should take further action and resolve your problems

"idiots who commit suicide" are NOT childish. saying something like that shows just how childish, selfish, and ignorant you truly are. go get an education instead of "choosing to be depressed". news flash, if you are choosing to be that way you are not really depressed, you are just a pathetic kid feeling sorry for themselves. real depression is a mental illness that often leads to suicide. suicidal people are not being weak or idiots. and its very hypocritical of you to call them idiots or that they don't resolve their problems when people criticize you and you say its because of your personality and for expressing yourself. maybe suicidal people do it because it expresses themselves. have you ever even considered that? and just because people dont like you at school doesnt make them "idiots." you are judgmental and so you have no right to feel sorry for yourself when others judge you. grow up.

I find it really sad that there is so much hate here. Come on guys we're the dollars. The personal section isn't for telling someone how much of an ass they are it's to help people sort things out. I also have to point out that some of you are being rather hypocritical. You don't judge someone because they judge others or treat them like a moron because they do to others. People have to learn things, they don't start off knowing everything.

I hope people realize that when people are depressed, having everyone tell them that they shouldn't be depressed or have no right to, it just makes it a lot worse. Even if they treat everyone else like crap they are probably still in a lot of pain.

I've thought about suicide many times. My life might just not be as rough as others who did. We never know what we would do in others shoes.

With being emo I suppose that it's fine. I think Dr. Seuss sums it up best with this, "Speak you're mind. People who matter don't mind whereas people who mind don't matter" (pretty much what >>17 said). What you really need isn't the world to approve of you but just one person who understands you and can be really close to you.
