Hello, everyone.

Before I address the problematic situation I'm in, I would like to note that it took me awhile to get myself to ask for help here, because I believed I could handle it on my own, however, I realized that without consulting with others, I wouldn't acquire as much information as I would if I searched on my own. I hope the good helpful users of the Dollars can help me out in my time of need.

Now, onto what I wish to ask. You see, I'm a high school student, one year before my last. The question concerning further education and work has been on my mind for a long time, ever since I was in the 8th grade. My current desire is to study veterinary medicine and, more specifically, to be a wildlife vet or a vet for exotic animals. I think it's a bit too early to be thinking about specific specialization right now, so lets just leave it at "I want to study veterinary medicine".
I live in a non-English speaking country, but I'm proficient in English. There is only one university offering courses in veterinary medicine here, but the image I have created of it is rather hazy, meaning that what I have heard about the quality of education there is a biiiit questionable. And, if I may be blunt, I really want to study abroad. I realize that if I finish university abroad, I could easily find a job both outside and inside my own country.
Thus, the question I would like to ask is about getting accepted in university. My current finances aren't great. There is no way I would allow myself to get a student loan, namely because I would have to be paying all my life. I would like to apply for stipends or to enter a free university, however, orientating around the Internet has been more or less confusing X<

So, does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know of a free university that offers veterinary medicine, where you can earn a stipend and study in English? If not a free one, perhaps one where they can 'forgive' the taxes, due to the income of the family or because of the grades or points one earns through a test?

Thank you in advance to anyone who even read through this =3

Well I'm replying to simply let you that I read this and want to help. Unfortunately, I don't really know anything about universities or pretty much anything you need help with at the moment but I'll try my best to be helpful.
All I can say is not to worry too much if it doesn't look like it's working out and I think I might sort of understand your pain, just a little bit further along in time. I've finished school and have no clue what to do with my life so I have taken the year off to work but I haven't even got a job yet. As long as you live there will always be hope and people to help you out. Don't give up yet.
If you are worried about something to do with the university, like the quality of education you said, then I think it's best to talk to someone there and clarify everything. It is your future so in the long run it's best to be absolutely sure about everything so that there is no confusion. That's all I can think of but I really wish I could help more. It's best to be open to people and ready to ask questions (not just to us but to people like your family, teachers and even people at the university).
I hope I helped (and apologize if I didn't) but even so I still read your post and am letting you know that you are not being ignored. People probably care and want to help but can't.

Hello, Sari. Once I'm already in university, I guess i can give you my thoughts and my advice: I live in a country where there are public and private universities. The public ones are free, but there is a tests you need to pass through. Each year the public universities select only a selected number of people for each of their courses, the ones with the best scores.

even though, the education isnt very good in my country, so, most of the public universities haven't a good structure, or even good teachers sometimes. I'm currently studying Law in a Public University. So, we have bad teacher, we have a bad library, we have bad classrooms and lotta other problems.

But, even with all these problems, we, who study in public universities, are usually more suitable for getting a better job and faster than the ones in private universities. That's because once we don't have the advantages of a good university, we usually need to be more determinated and applied to our study.

So, I really don't know exactly how questionable is the education of the university that offers veterinary medicine in your country; but all I can say is that a good and applied student will always be, even tho he or she is in a good or bad university.
