I'm generally bad at talking to and engaging in long, thoughtful conversations. As a result, I don't have any close friends, and not very many friends in general. However, that's not what I want to talk about specifically. I want to talk about talking to and interacting with my parents. More like the lack off, actually. Is it a bad thing to not talk to my parents very often, or on a very personal note?

I personally don't see it as that terrible. Parents are not always the correct role models or life coaches. I personally can't stand my mom and for good reason, while i get along great with my dad. Anyways point is, just because they are your parents doesn't mean that they should be your go to people by default.
