Trouble maintaining eye contact (12)

1 Name: Lady : 2013-10-06 22:12 ID:ub5dtWIb [Del]

I can't maintain eye contact for shit. It just creeps me out. I don't like how I feel when I look people in the eye, I feel their emotions just pouring out. It's uncomfortable, so I look around them. Not at them. I try, but it creeps me out and I have to look away. I really don't know why though. I know it's not normal so I looked it up and can't find squat.
So..I guess....Help me out here?
I know there is a psychological reason, I just don't know what.

I have a similar problem. For me it's because I fear what they think about said eye contact. It feels like they can read my mind from seeing involuntary facial gestures. So the trick is just to focus just off the eyes so you give the illusion of eye contact, or so that's what I've learned.

I've tried that, but I feel bad, like, my teacher's are trying to communicate something to me and I just can't do it and I feel like shit cuz I can't. It feels pretty awkward to because I know they can see me looking everywhere, but at them. It's some adjusting every year at school because my teachers have to get use to it, and when it first happens they look kind of confused and they try to make eye contact with me, but then I avoid it and I guess after a while they get it...it's just so awkward. Not to mention annoying. I swear I cannot act like a normal human being for the life of me.
Irony is though, that I am a beast at staring contests.

Haha, well the only idea I can think of now is just make all eye contact into non consensual staring contest. Other than that I don't know, but you shouldn't feel that bad about this. If you can't control it, it's not your fault, and people will hopefully understand that.

Try to look under their eyes. Like their bags. And with time you'll get to train to look into their eyes.

I have the same problem, I think I just look at their nose...

>>6 Same here. I look at the upper part of the nose, in the middle of the eyes to be precised. You aren't really looking someone in the eyes but they'll have the impression of making a real eye contact. :3 If it doesn't work, maybe you should talk with your teacher about your problem. I'm sure they'll understand better If you let them know.

Don't worry about it I used to have the same problem but now I've pretty much got over it. But for now just look at the upper part of their nose because that looks like you are looking them in the eye.

Just like what Inori told Shu (Guilty Crown,) look between their eyes or their forehead, they'll think you're looking in their eyes but you won't be :3

If you can just give eye contact every now and then when talking to someone. Eye contact sometime freak people out or if you don't give enough they won't trust you
