Emotion Confusion (7)

1 Name: Ao : 2013-10-03 21:24 ID:uvxxFRkh [Del]

I have a hard time feeling emotion, or at least identifying the emotion I am feeling at the time. Its difficult for me to differentiate between sadness, happiness, anger, depression, boredom, jealousy, etc. or if I even feel emotions in the first place. This has sparked interest in many a person intrigued by my external displayment of these emotions, and why the displayment of every emotion has only the most miniscule of differences to the point of it being damn near impossible to tell.

Also, I was recently told by a longtime acquaintance of mine that I had the eyes of a killer, those stone-cold hollow ones, with no sense of any feeling to them at all. Should I be concerned with this? And if so, what do I do about it?

I ask in hopes of any other dollars members having even slight relations to this phenomenon(sp?), so that I don't feel like the only kid that everyone thinks will eventually become a mass murdererl, or at least to help each other fogure out how to get peers' opinions of us to change.

Everybody is different and has different ways to show emotion. I can tell by this thread that you have a decent sense of humor~ just remember, for others to be happy with you, you have to be happy with yourself. Act the way want, and if they don't like it then tough.

I'm almost the opposite. I'll go about my day displaying every emotion one should feel at the right times, but truthfully, I rarely feel much of anything. I guess that's simply because of how I grew up. As for your question, I don't think you should be concerned. Mass murderers normally show emotion, but the wrong ones for the wrong things. They find it entertaining to kill living things in some of the most painful ways possible, and have uncontrollable rage. They have absolutely no respect for life at all. Never have had any and never will have any. You probably just aren't going through a very interesting time. It could also be linked to sleep habits, or diet habits. If you aren't getting enough sleep, your brain has a harder time processing information and creating reactions. Same goes if you aren't eating or absorbing the correct amount of nutrients. Give it some time. If you still feel this way in a few months, and are decently concerned about it, you could go see a doctor or therapist. Hope I helped a little.

@3 yes that helped and explained a lot, I sleep maybe 4 hours a night and eat once, maybe twice a day. That would explain a lot. Thank you both, I appreciate it

This could be a number of things. On one end of the spectrum, you have pervasive disorders and severe emotional impairments, and on the other you have a mere lack of understanding - which is far easier to grow out of or be treated for. Consider what Xenon said about sleep habits and nutrition, too.
Realistically, apathy doesn't affect much. Apathy and cruelty are two very different things (As Xenon said, violent cases of psychopathy and other factors that can lead to homicide rarely have to do with lack of emotion), and as long as you keep in mind that not all people are as, uh, emotionally inept (I mean that in the nicest way possible), everything will be fine.

I also have a hard time displaying emotion. Not with the mass murderer thing, but people constantly come up to me and ask if I'm ok. They say I always look all sad or depressed or something when I'm feeling perfectly fine on a great day. It's basically the same as you. I've also been told I have a near unreadable face. If you want we could discuss ways to get people to change how they think of us. Email me at nocturnalfirebrand@hotmail.com please. I want to know what I could do to change it as well.

>>5 I don't think it's emotional impairments themselves, but I think she just has trouble recognizing and displaying emotions.
