So, I've already payed my damage deposit on an apartment suite. At first this place seemed like such an amazing find as I have a cat and they accept cats.

Then the land lord started talking about this other dude who used to live directly above the suite I just sighed for. Recently the guy tried ( and may have succeeded in) setting his girlfriend on fire. The guy is in jail now but that kind of makes me want to cut my losses (700$) and run.

I wouldn't feel so strongly about this except for the fact that he pressed for an available family members emergency number saying that he just really wanted a number in-case he found me dead in my apartment suit. As a female I am suspicious of this guy(my possible land lord).

I may just be over reacting but I am really considering hunting for a different apartment. The problem is, There re no other apartments available and I am running out of options...

I'd feel suspicious as well and worry for my cat, if your gut tells you something isn't right it most likely isn't. That place sounds like a bad decision to me, you'll find a new place I'm sure :3 that place isn't worth risking your life or your cat's. I hope that I helped! I wish you the best!! ( ^ω^ )

Wait...is this your land lord who's asking for contact info? I'd say cut your losses and run. He probably has a key to your apartment, meaning he could get in without your knowledge. See if you can stay with friends or family until you can find a new place.
