Homework generally won't teach you anything important. The only reason you should do it is to get good grades, if you want them.
That's my way of motivating you - with honesty. Don't let people (*cough
>>10cough*) try to tell you that homework is the basis of your life and will make you a better person or give you a bette rlife, because frankly, it's not, and it won't. It's a pointless waste of time designed to give teachers less work in the classroom and/or to help you remember content that you won't need outside of your next test.
You should do it anyway, though, to keep your grades up so that your parents and teachers don't bitch and whine and moan. Do it to make your life easier, not because you're under the impression that it will make you a better person.
Give yourself a set time to work on it and always work on it at that time each day. It helps a lot. I personally choose to wake up one to two hours early before school and work on it then because I'm a morning person and then it also got me in the mood for work before I even got to school. It's a bad idea to set the time directly before going to bed, though, because you're more likely to put it off if you're tired.
