Health Problem (8)

Weight first off but it's weird. I'm a girl, 15 years old, 5'4 and looks ok(like I look a normal weight) but I weigh 160. Ya. My friends are surprised when I tell them because they say I look nothing like that(no the scale is not broken every scale I've been on says the same thing). Even the doctors are surprised! Even so I still feel fat no matter what because of that annoying weight. The healthiest weight I have ever been was 130(I was doing martial arts) and I had muscles doing the splits no problem and everything. Now lately I haven't been too fit so I've been trying to lose it. The only problem I have is my stomach area. It's so easy for me to lose weight BUT only if someone is coaching me. When I do work outs or diet by myself it's like my body gets used to it and stops losing weight.(I'm very strict about work outs and diets) It's not like I don't like working out. I LOVE running. I like healthy food. I was thinking it's hereditary but even if it is I don't want to be overweight. My family also has a lot of diabetics and cancer is popping up too so I'm scared. I have never been lost more weight than 130, not since I was a child. I wondering if anyone else has this problem? Any advice? Please don't be rude please. I just want to be a good weight.

You sound a lot like me X3 I'm around 5'3", 17 years old, I'm pretty curvy but not fat yet I weigh well a lot....yh I refuse to look at the scale anymore!
Frankly, the thoughts of loosing weight to look good have popped up in my head but I've chosen say "you know what?! I don't care what you people think! I may be heavy but I still look good!"
If you want to be healthier, then do it for that and that alone! Get rid of your scale! Run because you love to run! Eat healthy because you want your body to be happy! Don't let weight "weigh" you down! ^^

>>1No worries, i used to be super fat myself ^.^ you say you need a coach, you could ask your parents to get you membership to one of the gyms like the YMCA.
I'm a guy by the way, 6'1" I'm currently on 200ilb on the dot, but i weighed about 245 when last school year started.
It just takes commitment and a healthy diet and you'll drop weight :)
Besides that i can't find much else to say besides find a coach or a local gym to sign up for, since it sounds like the best way for you to lose weight ^.^

Don't worry too much about your weight. I have a friend who has the same problem. Her weight doesn't fit her height and figure at all and the doctors told her she had really heavy bones. You might suffer from the same phenomenon. Has the percentage of bone in your body been tested before?

Like >>5 said you might have heavy bones. My sister does. I was also chubby a while ago and I weighted 123 pounds. Now I'm more muscular and I still have the same weight, even if I'm not chubby anymore. So you just have heavy bones or your new muscle weight is in the balance with the fat you lose. As long as you are healthy and look healthy it doesn't matter the weight. Everyone is different. Don't think too much about hereditary genes.
No one believes me that I'm 123 even if I'm actually in shape. I also workout a lot to get rid of that fat belly and now I do have some gorgeous abs. So you can do it. Just work out and as long as you feel good and be in a good shape, it doesn't matter the weight.

Thanks you guys. I think I do have heavy bones too. I guess I'll try to be as healthy as it is possible to be. ^-^

I know how you feel, Lovi, and I'm in the same situation. I'm 5'8" and weigh around 185lbs (about 30lbs over the doctor recommended weight), but I don't look it when I'm wearing fitting clothing; it's still a shock when I look at the scale. None of my friends believe it either lol I go through phases back and forth where I feel overweight and don't. Guess hormones are to blame for that.

Anyway, what you're experiencing is just what happens when you have a voluptuous figure and solid bones. I suggest you still exercise and eat well since it's really a balancing act with this body type. Even just doing ten minutes of crunches each night will do wonders. Also, a good way to keep feeling well about yourself is to make sure you're buying the right clothes; a curvy girl wearing clothes made for a skinny girl will stretch out too much and look awkward after a few wears, but if you wear clothes for a heavier body type, you'll lose your figure in the excess fabric and look heavier than you are.

Like I said, it's all a bit of a balancing act. Just try to keep your confidence up and work towards whatever makes you feel best ^o^
