Thinking in a language you don't know (5)

I'm not sure if this could be considered important enough to be posted here, but I can't find an answer anywhere and I have only guesses. How is it that i'm able to think in a foreign language(Japanese to be precise) when I havn't even learned the language? I mean, I started to, but it was only two lessons out of total of 90. Is it possible that, from all the subtitled anime i've been watching, that my mind is just memorizing phrases in Japanese without me even knowing? I mean its weird. I'm just sitting here in my chair, and the next thing I know, i'm thinking in Japanese. I don't really know what i'm saying, but it's a coherent sentence that I remember hearing somewhere. God I hope i'm not going crazy.

Don't worry, thinking in a language you're learning is a good sign. It's completely normal for you to start thinking some words and sentences in Japanese when you've been studying it and watching Japanese anime and such. My foreign language teachers used to say that dreaming or counting unintentionally in a foreign language means that you're processing it correctly and you're starting to get more comfortable with it. So take it as a blessing.

That does make sense, albeit I took those 2 lessons back in December. Still remember what I learned, but I havn't progressed any farther yet. All the phrases and stuff that have been randomly flying through my head are unknown to me. Though I guess, if they're already in my head, when I do get around to learning them, it'll come to me a lot easier since I already know them in a way. Almost like it's natural.

Well I will think some things in Japanese sometimes. I have been watching anime for years and prefer to watch the subs so I have been around the language for awhile. Sometimes I will say things like Konnichiwa, genki desu ka? (Hello, how are you?) or Ohayou gozaimasu (good morning) when I see my friends in the morning and don't mean to. It just slips out. When I mean to say awesome I sometimes say Sugoi and ect. I really don't mean to it just happens. I don't think you are going crazy :) we are just Sugoi XD

>>4 That actually happens to me every now and again, but it's usually small stuff like a single word rather than full sentences. Full sentences only happen in my head, hasn't translated to speech just yet. I'm just waiting for it to happen when i'm in class. Oh how much fun it'll be to explain to my teacher why I just answered him in another language unintentionally.
