I've found 5 kittens in my front yard which are no more than 2 weeks(?) maybe even less, can barely walk. It's mother apparently is dead(?) according to my brother. I've never had a pet before, so I have no idea how to go about this. I heard that kittens can't live without their mother at such a young age. Can anyone give suggestions on what should they eat and stuff ? For now I've given them some cat food(semi-moist) but I don't know if they'll eat it seeing they're all so young. I'll check on them again next morning.
maybe some milk or formula milk for babbies. kitten usally start eating "real food" when there about 4 weeks old and even then you would have to change between real cat food and milk. oh yeah and the younger they are the more you need to feed daily.
If you can't get an appropriate bottle for the kitten formula, then put the formula in a tray/cup; get a small piece of fabric or a cheese cloth, and fold the cloth so it comes to a soft point. Then just dip it in the formula for a while and let the kittens suck on it afterwards so they're getting a natural amount. Obviously, keep dipping it as much as possible. Feed them several times a day. Otherwise, you should consult a veterinarian website or something more legitimate than us lol
Go to your local pet store. I'm sure you will be able to find everything you need. I would also suggest researching the growth stages of kittens to make sure they all hit their developmental milestones, and if one or two dont, start losing weight and/or show any signs of sickness, take them to the vet. If they are as young as you say, their immune system is still developing which means they can get dangerously sick fast and easily.
And this has already been said before but I think it is something that cant be stressed enough. What a kitten really needs is kitten formula, or milk(if kitten formula is unavalable). They cant digest regular cat food yet and regular cat food probably doesnt have enough of what they need. Normal cat food is probably low in fat, which for a normal cat isnt a bad thing, but kittens need things that are higher in fat and protien in order to grow at the rate they are supposed to.
