Why do people say that Christians "shove their views down other people's throats"? (19)

As a Christian, I find myself ridiculed time and time again by those that don't know the glory of Jesus Christ. They tell us that we have no business telling them what to believe in and what not. Well, they view it as us "shoving it in their face", when all we are doing is spreading the word, and the gospel of Jesus. Mark 16:15 And then he told them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone." you tell us not to do it. but Jesus told us to tell everyone the good news! who are we suppost to obay man or God! Also, if us talking about Jesus, God, or Christianity in general is shoving our religion in your face, what are you doing by telling me that I'm a "fucking idiot", or a "dumbass" for believing in Christ? If we're shoving it in YOUR face by spreading the gospel, then you're doing much worse by shoving the hate in ours.

>>2 ah BarabiSama so you think im a troll do you? or are you that scared of a thread that ask why? just answer the question dear. Why do people say that Christians "shove their views down other people's throats"?

>>3 I'm not stupid enough to write up a long, descriptive post replying to a troll.

[And in all honesty, if you can't see far enough past your own personal beliefs to understand why people say such things, then you'd be too narrow-minded to argue with in the first place, troll or not.]

Personally I am not all that religious, but I make it clear to my atheist friends and such that I am Christian. I talk about it sometimes with my other Christian friends but if I know itll upset someone I try not to bring it up. But I am a Christian, and I understand what some people mean. One of my Christian friends told my bisexual friend that she was going to hell and that god would hate her and it made her cry because she believed in god, I don't think people should go that far! Its up to them on what to do in life. Anyway, ill admit im a Christian, not very religious, but still a believer of god, and in some ways both arguments are right. There are some Christians out there that take it too far and there are some atheists/Satanists that take it too far as well.

If I were not an atheist, I would believe in a God who would choose to save people on the basis of the totality of their lives and not the pattern of their words. I think he would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul. ~Isaac Asimov, I. Asimov: A Memoir

tl;dr Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
>>1 Well look at that, someone acting on stereotypes yet again.
Fun fact: I judge people not by religion, but how that religion affects them and their actions. I don't hate the Westboro Baptist Church because they're religious, I hate them because they use their religion as an excuse to be dicks to the rest of the world.
And people would call religious people dumb because they believe in something that cannot be totally proven. It's still rude and they shouldn't say it, but it isn't unprecedented. People think I'm fucking lunatic because I'm solipsistic, because at first glance, it DOES seem crazy. The same way putting all your faith in an omnipotent being might seem dumb.
Fact is, those people aren't you. That doesn't make them ignorant, it just means they aren't you. They don't share your beliefs, nor do they understand them. Get over it, because it's totally normal.
>>5 Here is a good example of what I would call a reasonable Christian. They don't use their religion as an excuse to harm others because that's fucking rude.
>>6 Very well said; I agree 100%.

>>8 feeling epic! Some liked my response! Here's another,

"Tell me there is a God in the serene heavens that will damn his children for the expression of an honest belief! More men have died in their sins, judged by your orthodox creeds, than there are leaves in all the forests in the wide world ten thousand times over. Tell me these men are in Hell; that these men are in torment; that these children are in eternal pain, and that they are to be punished forever and forever! I denounce this doctrine as the most infamous of lies." - Robert G. Ingersoll

>>7 I thought that ID looked familiar. Damnit BFN.

>>everyone: Don't try to respond to and/or argue with the OP. We've tried to get into legitimate discussions with him before and failed because he takes his arguments straight from Yahoo Answers and Google. He's only trying to trick you into writing out descriptive posts in response to his stupid ones to waste your time. Don't get the boat rolling again; walk away before you look like an idiot.

tl;dr: OP is a known troll, stop replying.

I have a "friend" whom basically is very physical with people, and he threatens to "beat up" anyone who is Athiest, Jewish, basically anyone who isn't Christian. I only have problems with people such as that. Otherwise, I have great conversations about these topics with people. I like to hear their opinions on the whole religion area.

>>11 Why are you replying to a troll thread?

We have plenty of real threads for religious discussions. /This isn't one of them./

13 Name: Shadow Zeseir : 2013-07-11 08:13 ID:4by6Wk2O [Del]

>>12 Because I have a right to reply to whatever thread I please.
You're not doing any different, you're still posting to it.

>>13 The OP is known to just try to screw with members. You only look like an idiot by sharing your opinion with him like it's a legitimate thread.

But, fine. You can reserve your right to reply. Meanwhile, enjoy being treated like a fool for the rest of your time on this site for bumping this thread up and ignoring my original warnings when you could have just as easily found a legitimate thread for religious discussion and commented there instead.

Sage already!! I'm getting tired of this stupid senseless topic. People should be the way they want to be and believe whatever they want to believe in. Period. Even God said that, check it, dumbass.
